Shall I post more or can we all just accept that Moz can be funny?

Did anyone say he couldn't be 'funny'?

Is anyone saying his gloomy, melancholy, self-absorbed clunky phrases are uplifting Saturday night floor-filling anthems?

By way of contrast, while you're googling Morissey's lyrics for some more 'funny' or uplifting ones, here's some playful Level 42 virtuosity from the Tube to enjoy.

Plenty of dross on too though.

Great start to the weekend in an era when the following day's game was unmissable (83-86 ish)

Deserves a thread on its own?

Bristol (built on baccy and slaving) is an hour from London by train.

Norwich is like a giant Beverley surrounded by fertile land and had never known industrialisation/urbanisation like Hull has.

Newcastle is bigger than Hull so is more difficult to ignore (more Labour seats there).

The reason Hull is 'failing' is , as we know, due to the damning stats which adhere to our tight boundaries and don't factor in the more affluent suburbs. Thus a distorted picture is presented which unfortunately taken as gospel by the ignorant.

I'm sure the folks in Kirkella, Cottingham, Hedon etc would be mortified if Hull's boundaries were extended to encompass them, but it would boost our stats and get us out of the 'special needs' zone.

However I suspect the opposition would be greater (but more occult) from the Labour Party (particularly Diana Johnson) who stand to lose 3 nailed on places on the gravy train.

That status quo suits them very well.

Norwich is more like York than Beverley.........ancient walls, huge cathedral, brilliant shops, pubs, cinemas and night-life.

Norwich was once the largest industrial town in England, built on wool and leather. Although that was in the early Middle Ages.

This is all speculation and conjecture, there are many social, economic and political reasons why Hull is 'failing', none of these can be rectified by combining the statistics with a few neighboring villages.

Sam Jordison is just some pompous Oxbridge, Southern based, Tory gobshite, who wrote a pile of crap & has followed it up with yet another pile of unadulterated ****e, which is nothing more than subjective bollocks.

He should be made to explain his book on a Saturday night in Grangetown.

But we can get out of the relegation zone which automatically attracts better inward investment as per capita income, house values, unemployment rates etc are constantly scrutinised before decisions are made.

Why do you think Waitrose is at Willerby instead of Greatfield?

    Coincidence?

Because Morrisons had to sell some stores when they took over Safeway. There wasn't a Safeway at Greatfield.

    The same thing happened here.

    Can we though?

I'm not saying the stats wouldn't be better if we added the West Hull villages, they most certainly would.

I'm just questioning if it would be enough, to drag us out the relegation zone.
