Arguably, apart from Easy Rider, soundtracks only work when the film/show to which they are attached is known. Just maybe one or two songs can be extracted but that's it. Now if like me you don't find the majority of film offerings to your taste, it is highly likely that soundtrack albus don't figure highly in your estimation
The ones I mention stand as albums themselves as the artists did all the music and didn't add other artists to the soundtrack, they are well worth listening to. (if you like the last track I posted)
You miss my point. All of the tracks would have been written and produced with the film in mind. They therefore have value in relation to the film itself. If you don't know the story then you have no context in which to judge the music. It would be rather like watching and listening to a ballet when you don't have a clue about what the story is all about. You may like the technique and you may like the professionalism but until you actually have some substance in which to place what you see and hear you will miss the main part of the offering.
I see, misunderstood you. However the ones I've mentioned are mainly instrumental so that probably makes a difference.
