This being the Rooney that plays left wing, AMC, right wing and rarely CF for his club against RL who always plays CF for his? Rooney played well for Man U last year out of position virtually every game but that meant he scored less goals!!! He scored a few for England but he is never going to score many having to come to the half way line to 'fetch' the ball. Rooney is world class however much I (and a lot of others) hate to admit it. Mmmm. Not sure about that formations lot less goals in the Prem and that doesn't tally with a return to 4-4-2 in my eyes. I do totally agree on Carrick though. He should have been a mainstay for England alongside [choose Gerrard OR Lampard] for the past 5 years or so.
Rooney has been playing AMC all season for United. He played left midfield against Madrid last season and DCM a few times but generally he's an AMC behind Van Persie. I expect England will play 4-2-3-1 with Rooney AMC. --------------Hart -Walker-Cahill-Jagielka-Baines ---------Gerrard-Lampard -Townsend---Rooney---Welbeck --------------Sturridge
Rest of squad is on the bench in an international. Bench is: Smalling, Ruddy, Gibbs, Jones, Carrick, Milner, Barkley, Wilshere, Defoe, Lambert, Forster
Thanks. Thread I was looking at didn't include him. Would have knocked any hopes of Rio on the head if he wasn't included
He's kept Lamela out the Spurs side. He and Walker play for Spurs together down the right. He's better than Milner if you intend to dominate the game..
If Lallana continues his form and we stay at the right end of the table, he certainly has a chance of getting looked at for the World Cup. Roy has given him a call up before and he clearly has the ability.
Lallana should be at least in the squad and arguably in the actual side. By the squad he went for you shouldn't be surprised at all is what I was getting at. Townsend is decent though.
Its not a question of admitting it, he quite simply is not "world class". He seems to play OK for Man U but for England he is generally poor. I genuinely believe that Lambert would be a better option for England at this moment in time. When Rooney plays for England its always more about Rooney than it is England. Lambert would bring more players into the game (e.g. Wellbeck) as well as popping up with a goal or two himself.
