Hes ok but nothing more, with gosling, vukic etc as cm backup we dont need him.

vuckic needs games, i hope pardew gives donaldson, sam ameobi, lua lua and airey some games or loans

I think with question marks over Barton and Nolan long term and the departure of Smith, Guthrie will still have a part to play. Keep IMO.

  3. There's NOTHING wrong with Guthrie. He's an excellent squad player, and probably the best CM option behind Cheik Tiote, Barton and Nolan.

He's a crackin player, we shouldn't sell him. WE NEED SQUAD DEPTH!!!!!!!

    Keep Danny.

No need to sell him , good back up.

Really impressed me in the last few games he played last season.

Guthrie was a regular the year we went down and the year we came up!

I think just because he's not played much this year(even though he's played well when match fit) people have forgotten how good he can be.

Keep Guthrie good player - great potential.

Cost about 5million to replace = no point.

  7. His delivery for Colo's goal vs Spurs was top class.

if we get in cabey and gervinho and keep at least one of Barton and Nolan, then I would be prepared to sell Guthrie for reasonable money. He is quite good, and unless we improve to the level that even "quite good" isn't good enough for our second string, I would keep him. Certainly in no hurry to see him go

Why do so many people just dismiss him. He has plenty of potential and looked good when he actually got regular game time this year

but if guthrie plays instead of vuckic and gosling how will those players develop?

guthrie is nothing special imo, couple good passes but gets caught in possesion e.g away at west brom

ill concede and say ok keep him as last resort, IF alan smith finally feks off

why do you need to replace? we already have a TON of midfielders

We need a SQUAD in order to do better than we did this year
    selling Guthrie isn't an option.

We would need to replace because this "ton" of midfielders is not sufficient to cover when suspensions and injuries hit the ground.

Getting a good look at Gosling is crucial. We need to see how big a player this guy can be for us, starter or cover etc.

  17. We don't need to get rid of him man! He's a good back up midfielder, and what we've lacked is squad depth, what's the point it bringing in 1 new quality mid and then getting rid of another to fix that problem?

    Keep Guthrie!

Im so pleased to see most share my view.

Guthrie is an excellent squad player. He is nothing spectacular but plays well in CM to cover bans and injurys.

He struggled when he was played on the right, but in CM he is always comfortable and calm on the ball, also has a better free kick (at goal) than Barton.
