This particular group of players are playing in the image of their manager. That is all any manager could hope for.

    Agreed

"Players such as: Robbie Brady, Stephen Quinn, Liam Rosenior and George Boyd are literally fighting to prove that they are Premier League players."

Not sure I condone that sort of thing.

What is Barmby doing now? Has he just settled into a nice retirement or what?

I'm still annoyed at how he left.

Sorry but that really is bullshit. They didn't somehow know SB would get us promoted and they didn't even have him in mind when they sacked Barmby. Billy Davies was lined up for the job at that point. It could just as easily have gone the other way, we could have ended up with Davies and gone backwards. We were very lucky to get SB and for his appointment to have turned out the way it has done.

Having met Assem and heard about some of this comments in more formal meetings, he really isn't the genius owner people seem to think he is. He's a very generous man which is exactly what this club needed when he took over and for that I'm grateful like every City fan is but he really doesn't know what he's doing in terms of football ownership. His ideas about Hull Tigers are no more crazy than his ideas about everything else, he simply doesn't understand football and its common practices and seems to think that because he doesn't understand them they must be somehow wrong. Appointing Nick Thompson and others to take care of things was a great idea but he needs to let him get on with things and not interfere even if he does have every right to do so with it being 'his club'. Ehab, like Thompson, seems a lot more sensible but he has literally no interest in football and I think he will probably leave as soon as his dad does.

Yeah being successful both in the Marine Generator Business and achieving the success he has with us was just down to pure luck.

No, Happy - in the case of Hull City and Assem Allam - it seems like both Luck and Money played a blinder.

So it wasn't on their watch that Nicky Barmby was hurriedly appointed then?

Having seen a very good manager leave (NP) and make a mess of the Barmby appointment, they had success with Bruce.

Curiously SB recently mentioned the army of shrinks, quacks, performance analysts we now have at City.

It doesn't seem 5 minutes since Nigel Pearson has his team of these stripped back, and mobile phones were being rationed.

It's good to see they've learned from their mistakes with budgets and man management.

What do you mean by his success with us? The only way he can affect the team on the pitch is through his funding transfers and wages which isn't in doubt anyway and never has been except when Barmby was in charge. Apart from that he can only really be judged by what goes on off the pitch and we're a shambles off the pitch really.

Chazz - it really isn't ****e at all. How he can say so many ridiculous things and people still talk about him as a management genius is beyond me. Examples include 'nobody resigns from my company, they only leave if I decide to sack them', 'we don't need to pay for scouting, it's all available on the internet', 'team Hull' (the idea of having a backroom staff here for the club rather than the manager to avoid losing a whole coaching team when a manager leaves, which lasted about 6 months before he sacked them all), everyone living in a HU postcode, the Barmby situation, the Al-Ahly friendly, moving to Melton, the stadium situation and Hull Tigers of course. They've not been here 3 years yet and have managed to squeeze all that crap in.

There's plenty of sensible things he could be doing such as bloody marketing or talking to the council sensibly about the stadium (difficult as they may be, giving up on it completely is ridiculous). I think people just feel they have to like him because he's rich and generous. As I said before, the fact he was generous enough to bail us out and eventually make some money available for Bruce (if not the previous managers) was brilliant but it doesn't mean nothing else should come under scrutiny.

Oh and Agro has just reminded me with one of his posts: FLAG. Two meetings that group lasted before seemingly being disbanded without notice. Why would you want to do away with a group that can only benefit the club and costs nothing?

"he simply doesn't understand football and its common practices"

Fair comment PLT and I can see by the rest of your posting that your view of the Allams extends beyond their generosity (which I for one am very grateful for, since watching City over the Internet every Saturday or whatever is a pleasure that I would not get if we were languishing in League 2).

Re the not understanding football then pretty sure that applies to many owners, Sunday league players, Not 606 readers and City supporters like myself. Thats why Professionals get to be employed to do the job!
