That is exactly why I asked the question. What if they are found to be cheating.... How would their championships be viewed after that? What would FIA do? What would red bull do? What would the other teams do? I know people are saying the question of cheating is a bit tired, but I am sure it's a question each and every one of you is asking yourself, but some are not bold enough to come right out and ask the question.
I would imagine that if proven (which is highly unlikely) they would be expelled from both championships with a deffered financial penalty. If they were currently operating outside of the rules (or spirit of the regulations) they could revert to a dog of a car and still win both championships - afterall you cant scruitineer a car that no longer exists and unless there is a leak of information from an internal source (AKA Alonso style @ McLaren) there is no chance of every being able to prove it. The fact that the RB will continue to dominate the rest of the season would be proof in itself that the car must be legitimate/legal? In relation to Vettel it would destroy his already dubious reputation (justified or not) and probably Adrian's aswell?
Flexi wings off throttle mapping (possibly still in effect) kers activated traction control Aren't all of those illegal? FIA technical regulation states: 9.3 Traction control: No car may be equipped with a system or device which is capable of preventing the driven wheels from spinning under power or of compensating for excessive throttle torque demand by the driver. Any device or system which notifies the driver of the onset of wheel spin is not permitted. Back in 2008, when traction control was banned, Formula 1’s website stated: “And traction control will be again be outlawed altogether from the start of the 2008 season, when the introduction of standardised ECUs to the cars will make policing the ban far easier than in the past.”
Why did you think Vettel was trying his best not to be overly too quick in last race? Why do you think he just pulled out enough when the safety car came out and to keep Kimi at a safe distance? Maybe the reason is because many eyes and ears were watching and listening. Could this be a reason Mark Webber has been kept out of the loop? Maybe they think he might snitch like Alonso? After all he is leaving the team at the end of this season and there is no love lost between him and Vettel. Who knows, they might think he would throw that wet blanket over Vettel's celebrations if he knew what Vettel's side of the garage was doing.
Bit like Usain Bolt, just because he wins the 100m whilst taking a leisurely stroll it doesn't mean he's off his head on drugs Great car (fast, reliable for Vettel and easy on tyres) and great driver. Its a powerful blend.
of course he does, he simply looks at the facts, RBR have the finest aerodynamacist in F1, they also have arguably the best driver in F1, since the change in tyres they've managed to increase they're lead, whether this is because they've been able to make the new tyres work better, or because the other teams havn't been able to make them work as well, (2 teams to look at for this are Force India and Sauber, whose fortunes have switched dramically since). since the tyre change Vettel has come 2nd once and won all the other races, prior to that he'd won less than half, but if you think this has nothing to do with it and it's some sort of TC that is up to you, although if they did have TC I'd expect Vettel to pull away much further at the very start of the race, as that's where TC would be of the most benefit. As too what should happen to them IF they were guilty of a breachin the technical regulations, then personally I'd kick them out of both WDC and WCC, although I doubt it would happen as their lawyers would point to Schumachers 2 race ban for the same infringment, and then to how Mercedes were let off the hook for their illegal testing, and the result would still be Vettels 4th WDC and RBRs 4th WCC, all it would really do is sully RBR and Vettels name, but people do that anyway regardless of proof.
Maybe it means he hasn't been caught ....remember the really clean guy Powell - his countryman and a few of his fellow athletes from Jamaica?
This was taken from a piece I was reading earlier. While the Australian does not blame his problems in Korea on technical issues, he describes his run of problems as "uncharacteristic" of Red Bull. Did you notice how he mentioned about the stagnant development on his side and ended with (which have been surprising to "SOME" of us) I think he was trying to make a particular point there that it was surprising to some of us...not all. "There have been quite a few challenging technical issues which have been difficult to address," said Webber. "Given that it has been quite stagnant in terms of technical development, there have been a few [problems] that have slipped through the net in the last six months, which have been surprising to a few of us."
Webber has a habit of editing facts to make himself look hard done by, Wing-gate being a prime example.
I wonder if Red Bull would wrap up the championships this weekend then decide to let Webber compete for wins in the last few races To make him feel a little better about them?
It a choice, innocent until proven guilty, enjoying the all round skill. Or assuming than any winner must have done it by cheating. Red Bull may be up to something but until anything is even remotely proven they're just doing a very good job
Exactly... It's down to the other teams to create a competition. Unfortunately the competition has been incredibly inconsistent. Maybe we need to vent at the teams that are failing to compete rather than RBR.
I'm certainly coming around to this way of thinking. Red Bull have the quickest pit-stops (with only rare errors), usually flawless strategy calls, an excellent driver, an excellent designer, an excellent team boss, and I expect I could put "excellent" in front of nearly every job title within Red Bull, - so why is it so hard to imagine the pace is genuine? Lotus, Mercedes, Mclaren and Ferrari seem to lurch from mistake to mistake, so is it really all that surprising that none of them have been capable of putting a consistent challenge together?
In reality.... RBR's opposition has been a calamity this season. I bet they can't believe how easy they have had it.
You can't blame people for hoping that there is some kind of shenanigans. Gives hope that this dominance won't continue forever.
