This is how I see things... JANUARY... IN Suarez £23m & Carroll £35m OUT Torres Out £50m & Babel Out £6m Balance = -£2m SUMMER IN Henderson £12m OUT Aquilani £12m? Balance = £0 Also N'gog off the wage bill if he goes as part of Henderson deal. Total actual spend despite the size of these transfers is £2million only if Aquilani leaves as expected for a sum similar to Hendersons. This means whatever FSG planned to provide as a kitty is virtually untouched since they took over so I expect at least two more big singings in the £20m region as well as one maybe two more around the £10m region. This would be around £60m spent but a few will also leave to recoup a portion of that so a £50m kitty (if that is to believed) is still looking good at this stage and we could do a pretty decent rebuild with that amount. 'Possible' transfers IN Downing/Young/Adam Johnson/Adams/Dann/Doni/Jones/Enrique OUT Poulsen/Gulacsi/Konchesky/Cole/Degen/El Zhar/Insua If we can do some of these in's & out's I'll be happy but I suspect there are one or two names none of us are even thinking about that will actually come in.
So it looks like a deal has been done for Jordan Henderson with Sunderland. The deal rumored to be £20 million includes N'Gog going the other way, with him being valued at £7 million!!! I appreciate Henderson is a young, emerging talent with fantastic potential..But is he really worth that much?
I know it's pretty funny though. I don't really think Henderson is anything special at the moment but Kenny is obviously better at judging player's than any of us so ill leave him to it and hopefully Henderson can develop into a top player like a lot of manager's have tipped him to do.
MG..no wind up...But a deal of £20 million seems ludicrously high for a relative unknown quantity. No real international experience, no European experience, and still finding his feet in the premiership (last half of the season decidedly average).
I'd add Mata to the 'INS'. But yeah, we've not spent a lot if you work it through under FSG. Our net psend over the last 5 years will still be in the negatives too!
Shall we just have this thread closed and keep the other one open? Do you have the ability to close this KPR?
on the slave thread click administrative then merge threads then choose an option for a redirect for an hour (just so the topic writer doesn't think you have deleted his article) and then you'll be asked to provide the URL of the thread you want the topic to be merged in to (the Master thread). you'll probably need two tabs open. one with the master and one with the slave threads I hope that makes sense??
Bozz instead may I close one of the other threads,ie ''what a shocking waste of money'' which will allow the other one to remain open.As you said before that you wanted to ensure there was no repeat threads like on BBC606.
You have a super player in hendo worth the 20 mill i also think bruce will bring the best out of ngog
yeah but comment on the post before closing it stating why you are closing it. I've always stated that should someoen want the post re-opened then they can send a PM to the closing mod (in this case you) with a reason as to why they want it re-opened and it will be considered. this keeps everyone informed and happy at the same time. the easiest way to do this is put something like "Closed to to duplicate topic" in the quick reply box ,click the checkbox "Close this thread" and then click post quick reply. It will post your comment and close the post at the same time
Tottenham fan in peace... Not sure if it has been said but if I were a Liverpool supporter I'd be most concerned that Henderson would be blocking out first team chances from Shelvey and Spearing, watched a lot of Liverpool games towards the end of last season and they both look like very exciting young prospects. Do you really have room for another young midfielder to bring through the ranks?
Hollingydale, I'm not sure that Shelvey is ready or mature enough to be considered an automatic first choice at the moment. IMO, he could really benefit from going on loan for a season. As for Spearing - yep, the lad has improved over the last couple of years, but I still have nagging doubts about his ability to compete at the highest level. Don't get me wrong - I'd love to see him develop to the point where he's challenging Gerrard for a place, but maybe this is a bridge too far for him. What the Henderson purchase DOES give us is more options, better backup and a strengthening of the entire squad, not just the first team.
the fact we have the fa cup carling cup the league, you can not have to many players they will all get games. henderson looks a great a great prospect
I can see Shelvey going out on loan next season and Poulsen and Aqua will prob leave. Not sure where Henderson is going to play but RM would be my guess.
