I suspect people are talking about 2 different things - should players be getting vitriolic stick? and should they be in the team? I agree "working hard" is no defence against being dropped, the only thing that should be considered is whether the performance the player gives is good enough and could another player do better. If we can do better, drop them. However, I do believe a player wearing the shirt of Leeds United, who gives it his all, but is not delivering ....... they should not be receiving nasty abuse from proper fans. My reason is - just like other walks of life, its the fault of management (in the widest sense, including BM but also owners, and others) if a player is picked who is not up to the job, if the person picked is doing their best, its not their fault. I would save vitriol for the players who let their heads drop, pull out of the tough challenges, and stroll around watching us get pasted (all of which I have seen from so called Leeds players in the last 5 or 6 years, on occasion - but to be fair, not that often, apart from the head dropping, maybe). My view is a good fan supports anyone in the shirt who is trying their best for Leeds United. I think Hunt is in this latter category, trying his best but for whatever reason its not happening for him.
good question, though unfortunately I know from sitting next to some fans at grounds, that some can be there watching live and still see a totally different game to the one I am seeing. What I have seen on the pitch of Hunt is a team player who looks genuinely delighted when someone else scores, and who runs about all over the place, as the "first line" of defence when we don't have the ball. But is not really looking like getting even the 10-12 goals a season a player of his mould needs to be scoring.
To be fair too him though, is that as much because hes playing in a piss poor side. I dont think RVP would score twelve in a season with our current setup
agree again - in fact there may be a few other players who are better than they appear, due to the other half being dross. Challenge for the manager is to work out which half is which
well I think it must have been me sat next to you, seen him live 3 times this season and more on tv and I think he's bloody awful, makes Billy Paynter look great.Maybe he's doing his best but if he is then that is more of a worry as his best seems to be league 2 or 1 at best.Never seen a striker look so unlikely to score.
Yes Chesh but he's 'genuinely delighted when someone else scores, and runs about all over the place' so he has to be the first name on the team sheet
