Another positive move by the club... I like the way it is linked to what OUR fans get charged.
It may make clubs like Citeh think twice before they rip off our fans again.

Newcastle United are leading the way in a fan-backed campaign to bring the cost of Premier League away tickets down to £20.

The club is set to announce a reciprocal deal where they will charge visiting fans that price should theirs be given the same deal, according to The Independent.

Manchester United have also followed Liverpool and Arsenal in reducing the cost of every away ticket bought by their fans this season. United will take off £4, Arsenal £2.50 and Liverpool between £2 and £4 depending on the opposition.

The move comes after the Premier League announced the establishment of a £12 million fund - drawn from TV revenues - for the next three seasons which will ensure each of the 20 Premier League clubs set aside £200,000 each per season to help fans pay for away games.

The fund is a response to the Football Supporters' Federation's "Twenty's Plenty" petition, which argues £20 is a commercially viable figure to charge. The Premier League are hoping to counter a 9.6 percent reduction in away attendances last season, largely due to high costs.

"The one cost that every fan has to pay, regardless of how they travel and where from, is the price through the gate," said FSF chief executive Kevin Miles.

"Subsidised travel is fine for those who choose to travel by coach - and we welcome it - though that is not much use to the people who live nearer the away ground than the home stadium. It is the question of ticket prices that we are keenest to see explored. We are watching with interest to see what clubs come up with."

I know by going to the games we're putting money into MA's hands, but I don't look at it like that, I go to support the team I've supported since before MA took over.

This is aimed at away fans. So say Swansea charge Newcastle fans £20 to go to Swansea, then Newcastle will charge Swansea fans £20 to come to Newcastle. If Man C want to charge £45 then we reciprocate and let their fans find the same.
The cost to the home fans isn't considered. Makes a bit of sense. The average Newcastle fan pays maybe £5-£10 getting there on match day?
Go to see them away and you're looking at trains/coaches/petrol. Maybe a hotel? A lot of matches must be kicking £80-£100 just to get there and back.
Does of course but the ball in the other teams court and lets Mike say, well it's your clubs fault you have to pay so much.

To be fair the majority of teams charge over £40 to away fans now.

£39 for the Mackems and they would have gone if they'd been a lot more.

I'm absolutely certain I payed £42 for the privilege of climbing the eager steps at st James to watch football from the clouds. It's a bit bemusing to see my club singled out in the op if not a tad hypocritical
It also seems a bit ironic to moan about prices when the fervent clamour for the implementation of FFP made it an obvious next step for clubs to generate the revenue they need to comply

As a home & away supporter it's good to see clubs have been given the £200k incentive to reduce prices for away fans but unless measures such as salary caps are rigorously introduced it's only going to be the thin end of the wedge

Man City are also doing something similar

But just think of the pure fresh air you get up there and the wonderful exercise climbing the steps and helping to keep you fit, and it's all thrown in for free.

It was 1-1 Gavin peacock scored a well taken goal just before the break for Chelsea .
We got a bit of a spanning but mark hottiger equalised in the 90th minute to sneak a draw.

I remember bumping into Alan ball and lawerie mac in a dingy newsagent just outside.

Their main stand the shed was a temporary one only used for one season.

I was with my dad and when ever ticket prices get mentions he always refers to that match, back then it was a crazy price

Peacock was a top player back in the day.
Shame we had to leave but it was down to family reasons.
