I had a chuckle when I read that. I must admit that of all the matches I have seen over the years, the ones that were the most emotional/dramatic were probably the final ones of the season when the Swans nearly got relegated to the Conference. You can forget about your Champions League finals, Play Off finals, Premier League deciders - you cannot beat the raw emotion of the fear of your Clubs failure to stay in the Football League, or even to stay in existence. The hairs still stand on the back of my neck now
We've all got to hop on the the Gus bus and support him and the team 100%. Hopefully it's a great ride up the table. Good luck Gus Ha way the lads
I keep reading this. Palace, West Brom, S'ton, Fulham...I just don't get this, we've had a hard run of fixtures, hardly heavy weights of the prem.
Yip...........my thoughts reading through this thread. Funny how some folk write off last seasons top 10 as so last season lol
We have had Liverpool, Man Utd and Arsenal? Tough games yes but no tougher than other clubs have had to play in their opening fixtures surely? The rest made up of Fulham, Palace, Southampton and WBA are games we should have done far better in. It's not the fixtures it was the environment we were playing in that has done for us. PDC tore the heart out of the squad and led to a complete breakdown. We struggled against MK Dons as well. It didn't matter the opposition, we were going to struggle with ANYONE we played. I think Bally has restored some calm and togetherness in the dressing room and Poyet will be able to build on that. We have a decent 14 or 15 squad players that should get us to January 1st with 17 points. If we can do that, we San bring in 1 or 2 key players to really have a go for the second half of the campaign. It's going to be a real sleeves up scrap but of course I believe we can do it 100%.
I see no reason, so early in the season, with this squad of players...why we couldn't make steady progress now. It will be tough, but very do-able
I thought I'd read that somewhere. I'm sure I heard talkshite say something like no-one has survived except Southampton with one point from three games so it's bullshit. Season starts a week on Saturday
QPR were in your position but they waited far too long before showing Hughes the door.Whatever the rights and wrongs of the PDC situation you have a sound manager with time to turn it around. It's not impossible but I think you need a win out of your next three. If you go into November winless it will get tough.
A very unpleasant fact to swallow..lets hope we can beat the odds..do we not need 3 or 4 wins on the bounce and Fletcher fit...
We've acted early and that's the difference. To have just limped along for another 7 or 8 games with the madman, would only have made the task more impossible for any successor and it's still a difficult one anyway. Poyet has 31 games and is only 6 points from safety. This league is very poor and teams are capable of beating anyone on the day so this relegation will go right down to the wire for sure. I think we can do it. So does the manager and I only hope the players still so. That's vitally important.
Then you keep reading it wrong mate. Your list is a bit wrong. We've only played fulham at home from your list. It should have read like this Fulham Arsenal Liverpool Man Utd Newcastle Man City Chelsea Tottenham Bit different from your list. If your point is we should be should be consistently winning away, then we should be beating some of these lot at home too and qualify regularly for europe as the teams who consistently win away are the teams just listed minus Fulham and the dirty unwashed. So in short, you'd just be another deluded fan who wants us to be something we're not and possibly never will be and have never been in in our lifetime. I'm not saying we can't get out of this mess, I'm just saying that our home games this half of the season is a perfectly viable reason as to why the OP's original fact is an issue. Edit, just looked there. If we'd picked up a point from all our away games this season(Which usually an away point is a good point against anybody in most peoples eyes) we'd have a staggering total of three points So bring pissed off that we haven't picked up 3 points off Arsenal, Liverpool and Man Utd at home is a unreasonable as expecting winning streaks on the road. Yes Fulham was a game we should be winning but lost to one attempt on target and it was the best we played all season. Guess some folk just always have to find problems instead of showing their club some empathy.
I'm at a loss as to why we are even debating about relegation this early in the season, we've played 7 games FFS and there's still another 31 to play. We have a new manager and apart from Fletcher who will be back soon anyway, we have a fully fit squad giving the new manager plenty of options. He has 2 weeks to get to grips with them and try to halt the slide, give the bloke a chance and get behind him instead of telling him it can't be done and he's wasting his time.
