Have you seen it from the back Stan?? Really captures the horror of the whole ordeal, called the Syrian martyrdom. The skin from his whole body was supposedly stripped from him while he was alive in one piece, and when you see the statue from behind you realise that the skin from his head complete with beard is hanging behind his left shoulder!! Don't think I'll ever be able to remove that image from my mind.....
Yep. Its both stunning as a piece of art and craftsmanship and really horrible. When I lived in Milan I used to take visitors to see it with the line 'I'm going to show you something you will never forget'. often followed by a quick grappa at a local bar. Much more memorable than The Last Supper just down the road, shame da Vinci didn't paint that on a more appropriate surface.
I`ve seen this somewhere before. Good Friday was a racehorse who fell while racing on Easter Monday - no idea of the year though.
Close enough, because the year can be found on a quick dig around the web, but that is the correct answer, Good Friday was a race horse and it was 1946.
Not Arsenal sorry. A clue is that this stadium is surrounded by water on 3 sides and would be surrounded on 4 sides without the bridge.
No not Middlesbrough. Very few of us have been there. The city where it is located was build on water and from reclaimed land. The City has very little space left for building projects - therefore the island stadium.
The description of the city could indicate Portsmouth, but I reckon a fair number would have been there.
