What a great thread this is. One of the best I have read on here for a while. I have to agree with the majority, that we need to free Gerrard and Lucas from playing alongside each other. They seem to get in each other's way when Gerrard stays in position, Lucas needs the space to do what he does best. I think this has contributed to his yellow card count so far this season, because he's not in the ideal starting position he's making up too much ground, and committing silly fouls. To get the best out of the squad at the moment I would go for: Mingolet Johnson Toure Sakho Enrique/Cissokho Lucas Gerrard Henderson Coutinho Suarez Sturridge Subs - Jones, Skrtel, Agger, Kelly/Wisdom Aspas/Ibe, Allen/Alberto, Moses It's hard to choose between Enrique or Cissokho as we've not seen much of Aly yet. The full backs provide the width in the team, as they do now. I've gone for a traditional back 4, as I'm not a massive fan of the 3. Henderson provides the midfield energy, with Gerrard's range of passing. Lucas then has the space to operate in, and Gerrard is freed of some of the defensive duties. Coutinho can play the free role he is so good at, and SaS can do the damage up front. We've then got decent cover on the bench, including a player or two who can come on and make a difference. I've put Agger here because VC or not he can't walk straight back in. Harsh on Skrtel maybe, as he's been great recently, but someone had to drop out. I've dropped Sterling from the squad as he's been toss since he signed his contract last season. He needs a kick up the rrrrs.
