According to Sarah Brookes, our Director of Communications, Omri did not go on loan but was transferred. She posted a tweet this evening: For the record, Omri Altman is no longer a #ffc player. Permanent move at end of last season" A review of her job description might be in order.
In the big head-to-head (at least team wise) Cauley Woodrow’s Southend had a shock 2-0 away win over Ryan Williams’ high flying Oxford United. Cauley played for 85 minutes before being substituted but Ryan was an unused sub. Match report: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24349582 Marcus Bettinelli wasn’t able to repeat last week’s clean sheet and that against his old team mates at Dagenham. On Friday night Marcus made a number of good saves which kept his side in the game having gone down 2-0 and despite fighting back Accrington ended going down 2-1 at home. Match report: http://www.sportinglife.com/footbal...92803/accrington-stanley-v-dagenham-redbridge And, Dan Burn had a bit of a bloomer day when Birmingham similarly went down 2-1 at home: ”Two individual mistakes from Birmingham City’s Dan Burn and Darren Randolph gifted Bolton Wanderers their first win of the season at St. Andrews. Blues looked a different team to the side that has previously won their last three home games, but their apprehension and carelessness on the ball resulted in the opening goal of the game through Dan Burn’s mistake after just 12 minutes. Jermaine Beckford pounced on the young central defender’s hesitation on the ball before racing through on goal and coolly slotting home for the Jamaican’s first league goal in a Bolton shirt since his move from Leicester City in the summer.” Match reort: http://madeinbrumfanzine.com/2013/10/05/burn-and-randolph-left-red-faced-by-the-trotters/ Brentford also had a frustrating day, going down 1-0 at home to Rotherham. Marcello Trotta started this one but was substituted at half time. Match report: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24349443
In Norway on Sunday, Josh Pritchard played 87 minutes of Tromso’s narrow defeat away at Molde in the Tippeligaen. Fredrik Gulbrandsen’s early effort proved the difference as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side secured a slender victory.
Cauley Woodrow came off the bench at half time to score two goals in the second half. Unfortunately that couldn’t help Southend from going out of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy 5-2 at home to Dagenham & Redbridge. Match details: http://www.southendunited.co.uk/fixtures-results/match-report/?matchid=3676239&tcmuri=1102862 Ryan Williams was in the starting line-up as Oxford United took on Portsmouth at home in the same competition. Their Official site report had some glowing comments about young Ryan. Among them: ”A moment of sublime skill where Williams dragged down a high ball, turned sharply and almost set Constable free was typical of the young Fulham loanee’s eye-catching performance.” It wasn’t Oxford’s night though and they also went out of the competition, losing 2-1. Sounds as if Cauley Woodrow was the one light in Southend's 5-2 defeat by D&R. He headed home a cross and put in another from a rebound - Not bad for coming on as a substitute. Good for him!
Cauley Woodrow's reaction: please log in to view this image "Cauley Woodrow was left suffering mixed emotions following Southend United’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy defeat to Dagenham & Redbridge. The on loan Fulham forward netted the first two goals of his senior career against the Daggers. But Woodrow’s joy was short-lived as the Daggers fought back to triumph 5-2 at Roots Hall on Tuesday night in what the 18-year-old felt was the ‘craziest’ game he has ever played in. “I was delighted to get my first two goals in senior football but at the same time I’m gutted we didn’t win the game and get through to the next round,” said Woodrow. “The goals had been a little while coming for me and I missed a couple of chances at Oxford on Saturday so it was nice to put that behind me. When we went 2-1 up we needed to protect that lead for a while and then build on it but we instead allowed Dagenham to get back in to the game. We’ve got to do better at defending set pieces because that cost us again which is a big disappointment." Source: http://www.echo-news.co.uk/sport/blues/10727725._/
Not a bad day for the lads on loan. Cauley Woodrow‘s Southend made hard work of it away to Burton, who played the second half with 10 men, but scraped through 1-0 with a 90th minute goal. ”Burton keeper Jordan Pickford produced a fine save to deny Cauley Woodrow before the hosts had striker Blly Kee sent off for a second bookable offence. Alex MacDonald went close with a header and substitute Matt Palmer hit a post as Burton pushed for an opener. But late on substitute Eastwood struck with a deflected 15-yard shot that bounced in off a post.” Match report: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24408114 Ryan Williams came on for the last 15 minutes as Oxford United had yet another win. They had to fight though to keep their half time lead of 2-0 at home to Northampton. Match report: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24408395 Marcus Bettinelli’s Accrington Stanley were another team who had to play the second half with 10 men. Away to AFC Wimbledon they held onto their 1-0 lead before the home side equalised 4 minutes from the end. ”Odejayi headed home Lee Naylor's corner to put the visitors ahead, but was dismissed just before half-time for raising his hands to Callum Kennedy. That stirred the Dons into action, with Jack Midson and Luke Moore denied by goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli. And the pressure finally told when Alan Bennett nodded the ball in late on.” Match report: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24408102
The missing one from the weekend games: please log in to view this image "Marcello Trotta played 70 minutes as Brentford were defeated 2-1 at Stevenage Borough in Sky Bet League One on Saturday. The Italian striker almost broke the deadlock inside 60 seconds when he rose highest to head Shaleum Logan’s cross goalwards, only to see Stevenage keeper Chris Day make a decent save. Trotta then had a key role in the opening goal on 13 minutes when he played a one-two with Jonathan Douglas who burst through before lifting the ball over Day, with Clayton Donaldson making sure it crossed the line. The lead lasted just two minutes though as Bees stopper David Button was caught in possession by Francois Zoko, resulting in an easy goal for the Ivorian. Trotta then saw another effort saved, before Zoko grabbed his second of the afternoon from close range with 26 minutes played – a goal which proved to be the winner despite Brentford’s subsequent attacking onslaught"
Cauley Woodrow played the full 90 minutes last night as Southend Utd continue their revival, beating Fleetwood Town 2-0 at home. Southend have now moved up to 6th place. While Cauley didn't score this week, he had a good game by all accounts. Match report: http://www.southendunited.co.uk/fixtures-results/match-report/
Hereâs how the Saturday crowd got on: Marcello Trotta got his first goal as Brentford beat Colchester 3-1 at home. âBrentford might have gone in ahead at the break, but Trotta fired wide from three yards when it looked easier to score. Then, Magnus Ukuonghae gave the visitors the lead just after the break, rising unmarked to power home Luke Garbutt's corner. But the Bees hit back in the 76th minute when Marcello Trotta slotted home Clayton Donaldson's low near-post cross. Chelsea loanee George Saville put the home side ahead with 10 minutes remaining, firing home a curling drive from the edge of the area. And the comeback was complete with minutes to go when on-loan Cardiff winger Kadeem Harris headed home on his league debut from Sam Saunders' precision cross at the far post. Adam Forshaw went close for Uwe Rosler's side, but his dipping free-kick was tipped wide by U's goalkeeper Sam Walker. Saville also went close with a close-range header which just cleared the crossbar.â Source: http://www.sportinglife.com/football/live/match-report/288350/- Marcus Bettinelli was on top form, and he needed to be, as visitors Oxford United pummelled the Accrington goal. please log in to view this image Stanley held out though and earned a creditable 0-0 draw. And a nightmare Sunday for Dan Burn who was subbed at half time as Birmingham lost 4-0 away to Leeds. Match reaction: http://www.bcfc.com/news/article/20131020-the-reaction-leeds-united-4-blues-0-1124483.aspx
The opposition are heaping praise on Marcus Bettinelli: "Bettinelli, on loan from Fulham, thwarted several other visiting players and Raynes admitted he had no idea how the 21-year-old had kept out his efforts. “The keeper did well to save them and he got the man-of-the-match award, so there’s nothing you can do about that,” the Oxford forward said. “The second header was the better one. I don’t know how he got there. It was an unbelievable save." Full article: http://www.witneygazette.co.uk/sport/10751389._/

The lads on loan were out again tonight. At home to Dagenham & Redbridge, Southend went down to 10 men after only 27 minutes and conceded a goal 5 minutes later. Although they fought hard (it was a rough and tough game) Southend couldn’t pull back that deficit and lost 1-0. Cauley Woodrow, who played the full 90, had their best effort with a rasping shot that was tipped over the bar by the keeper. Match report: http://www.southendunited.co.uk/fixtures-results/match-report/ Accrington Stanley had their first League win of the season beating Bristol Rovers 2-1 at home. They got off to a rocky start though. After only five minutes the Pirates took the lead when Manchester City loanee Alex Henshall's left-wing cross fooled goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli. Marcus attoned himself with some fine saves during the rest of the game and once again came out with flying colours. Match report: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24529703 It was a dark and stormy night at Kassam Park as Oxford United took on fellow promotion chasers Exeter. Ryan Williams started on the right in a 4-4-2 formation and played his part before being substituted after 70 minutes. It was a hard fought match but ended goaless. Oxford stay in fourth place, one spot behind Exeter. Match report: http://www.oufc.co.uk/news/article/00221013-exeter-report-1128677.aspx
And the other one from last night: In League One, Marcello Trotta was a 54th-minute substitute as Brentford won 2-1 at Bristol City. Sam Saunders' 25-yard shot deflected in off Derrick Williams to break the deadlock in the 79th minute before Clayton Donaldson stabbed in at the back post on 86. Marlon Harewood scored in injury time but it proved to be a mere consolation for City as the Bees moved up to seventh.
Not a too bad a Saturday for the lads out on loan: Dan Burn started the game away to Derby having been taken off at half time in last week’s thrashing by Leeds. Birmingham found it tough going but battled all the way and got a deserved equaliser in the second. Match report: http://www.bcfc.com/fixtures-results/match-report/?matchid=3631265&tcmuri=920997 [It’s difficult times at Birmingham. They remain in deep financial trouble : “Carson Yeung will have to find an answer to Birmingham City’s liquidity problems before Christmas, or else the club will be plunged into administration. The owner of the struggling Championship club is currently on trial in Hong Kong, facing charges of money laundering, with both his own future and that of the club he owns in jeopardy. Funds are drying up at St Andrew’s and it is understood that the club has around eight weeks to find the additional money to survive.”] Oxford United went top of League Two with a 2-0 away win against AFC Wimbledon with Ryan Williams playing for the first hour before being subbed. Match report: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24591022 Cauley Woodrow was also subbed (after 68 minutes) as Southend United were outplayed at Newport - losing 3-1. Dan Burn and Birmingham City were cruelly dumped out of the Capital One Cup on Tuesday evening as Stoke City came away from St Andrew’s with a penalty shoot-out win. Fulham’s on-loan centre-back played the full 120 minutes as Blues showed great character to push their Barclays Premier League counterparts all the way, despite playing the majority of the tie with 10 men. Stoke took the lead courtesy of a fine effort from Liverpool loanee Oussama Assaidi, but Tom Adeyemi equalised for the home side just before the half-hour mark. Birmingham then suffered a blow as Wade Elliott was dismissed for an apparent elbow on Assaidi just before the break, with the Potters taking full advantage as Peter Crouch and Marko Arnautovic gave them a 3-1 lead. That was how it remained until the final five minutes, when a brace from substitute Peter Lovenkrands sent the game into extra-time. Kenwyne Jones then put Stoke in front four minutes into the added period, but City showed their resilience once again when Olly Lee netted in the 118th minute to force penalties. But, for all their efforts, a place in the Quarter-Finals proved a step too far as Mitch Hancox and Callum Reilly missed their spot-kicks, while Stoke scored all of theirs to progress.
"Fulham midfielder Josh Pritchard has decided against a permanent move to Norwegian side Tromso. The 21-year-old has featured in the Europa League for the Tippeligaen side and scored the winning goal in their play-off first-leg win over Turkish side Besiktas. However, the Cottagers youngster has indicated that he wants to continue his development at Martin Jol's side." Source: http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11681/9000809 Have to assume Josh made this decision after getting reasonable assurances from the Club about his future. It will be an interesting indicator of our youth policy to see how he is re-integrated.
