Just wondered if you guys were concerned about this. Alot of smaller clubs do well when promoted in their first season (a bit of momentum from the previous year) and then lose their better players (Morrison) and subsequently struggle and get relegated the following season.

Does this apply to Millwall? What do you think you could do to help over come this?<ok>

No because our team spirit is second to none and gets us through which a lot of other teams don't have. Moro is gone but we knew he would anyway and he will be replaced and were still finish top 10 comfortably next season again like I said on 606 that we would last season before it started <ok>

2nd season syndrome is only a lack of ambition. You do well 1st season so think that the team can cut it at that level so don't add too much to squad over summer. Meanwhile every other team around you has strengthened their squads so when the season gets going you struggle. Bit like your lot last season. It's just one of those mythical tales that most people think is a natural occurance, a bit like the conceding a goal straight after scoring story. Everyone thinks it's down to a lack of concentration etc but it all comes down to the team who have just conceded now having possession and their only aim is to cancel out the goal you just scored so rather than one team having a lack of focus its the other team who has a sharper focus.

This will probably read like a load of bullshit but it's 5 mins til lunchtime and i'm trying to waste it away.

After a bit of research into the 2nd season syndrome you are referring to, i think it applies more to the gulf between premier League and 2nd division than div 2 to division 3.

Out of the last 7 seasons, 21 teams have been promoted from the 3rd division to the 2nd division and only 4 teams (Brighton, Luton, Colchester United and S****horpe) have suffered that ill-fate.

Out for the 21 teams promoted, since their promotion, more have actually gone onto the promised land that is the Premier League than had 2nd season syndrome. 5 teams.

QPR, promoted from division 2 in 2003/04.
    Norwich, promoted last season.
    Wigan, promoted in 2002/03.
    Swansea City, Promoted 2007/08
    Blackpool, promoted 2006/07.

Only 2 teams in that 7 year stint have been relegated in their 1st season back in the 2nd tier, S****horpe and Southend United.
