As a Greek Philosopher called Epictetus apparently once said - 'people are disturbed not by things, but by the view they take of them'. Some folks might be easily swayed by short term trends but surely if we think how this season would likely have gone under a continuation of the Bates era - I think where we are now has been a very positive change. If a few poor performances and having an average squad for the league we're in are the biggest worry, then happy days! I can't speak for anyone else but my glass is still half full for the longer term future.
It's the same old, same old. I support Leeds United, should they be playing Barcelona in a Champions League semi-final or if they are playing Fleetwood Town in the League 2. I want to see Leeds at the top, but they aren't and probably won't be in the foreseeable future. I cannot affect what goes on in the boardroom, or the training ground and changing room. All I, we, can do is turn up on a Saturday and support the team. No matter who is in that team we have a support to be envied by 99% of teams in all 4 Divisions. GFH have a job at corporate level, financing and getting finance for this club. McDermott and co are responsible for identifying players to take the club forward and to select the best team from the squad available. The players job is to carry out the manager's plans to the best of their ability and to win games. WE HAVE NO DIRECT AFFECT ON ANY OF THE ABOVE. WE DO HAVE AN AFFECT ON ..... Supporting the 11 on the pitch and giving them the confidence to think "I am good enough" I know what I am saying here is what we all know, but I'm sick to death of all these experts sitting at home on their pcs telling hardened business men what they are doing wrong. If I was better than GFH, or Ken Bates for that matter. I would be in ER with my multi-millions ousting them and putting the wheels back on. But I'm not so I'll just go to nightshift tonight, get my daughter to school in the morning and maybe, just maybe, next Saturday Leeds will scrape a result against Birmingham City and send me back to work a bit happier on Monday. That's all I want out of the Corporation that is LUFCplc. I now await the pounding I am fully expecting
Not from me - everyone is entitled to an opinion... The fans do have an affect on all of the above. GFH: Do you believe Bates would have sold up had we been getting 31k fans a week watching the games? Why do you think the new chairman is quick to tweet we are after two new players and several other "must keep fans happy" tweets. GFH are desperate to keep the fans on board McDermott: If we lose the next 3-4 matches and the fans turn on him watch him be shown the door. If I had multi millions I COULD run the club better, alas I haven't.
