Norway a mate went to the Fleetwood Mac gig in Dublin a couple of weeks ago and said they were fab!!!!!
I like old school music, virtually every band I like has been going 10 plus years. Chart music is ****. Give me Ozzy, megadeth, fear factory van halen etc any day I'm also fond of aerosmith, not because they are great but I once got molested by a girl there!
Cheers Tramore Been waiting 7 months for it, only 12 days away. This is one of the bands that has to be experienced live before it's to late. Was waiting for that to come up. My mother try telling me, even donated all her early Fleetwood Mac vinyls to me, which I'm grateful for by the way. But for me they are two completely different bands pre/post Peter Green. Even though Peter Green was Gary Moore's mentor, my favourite guitar player of all time, and that he gave Gary his Gibson Les Paul. I still prefer Lindsay Buckingham. Like music and in general and guitarist in particular, it is about individual taste. Did I mention Keith Richards? No problem we prefer different guitarist. Agree 100% about Stevie though, HOT! One of the best things about Lindsay Buckingham is that he sees himself more as a composer than a guitarist. What sets him apart is his fingerpicking guitar style, by using that technique his sound is unike to most other guitar players imo. He explains what I mean better: In an interview with Guitar World Acoustic Magazine, Buckingham said: "I've always believed that you play to highlight the song, not to highlight the player. The song is all that matters. There are two ways you can choose to go. You can try to be someone like Eddie Van Halen, who is a great guitarist, a virtuoso. Yet he doesn't make good records because what he plays is totally lost in the context of this band's music. Then there are guitar players like Chet Atkins, who weren't out there trying to show themselves off as guitarists per se, but were using the guitar as a tool to make good records. I remember loving Chet's work when I was a kid, but it was only later, when I really listened to his guitar parts, that I realized how much they were a part of the song's fabric, and how much you'd be going 'Oh, that song just isn't working' if they weren't there." Another guitarist in the same mold is Ritchie Blackmore, fantastic at fitting his guitar into the songs. Especially when in Rainbow.

Thank you norway. Absolutely fantastic song and epic guitar solo by Lindsay Buckingham. I had already the tickets for fleetwood mac concert but then it was cancelled. Imagine my disappoinment.... Yep...........I thought Coverdale's voice was every bit as good tbh. Loved Burn. Tramore...........I saw The Sensational Alex Harvey Band in Reading back in the day. They were brilliant.......loved 'em!
I always thought that Coverdale struggled with those songs live, but why, oh why, did they ever let Glenn Hughes anywhere near the microphone? I preferred the earlier Mark II, some of the songs off In Rock performed with Wring that Neck and Mandrake Root, although Lazy was magnificent.
I think, truth be told, although I preferred the "classic" line up, I also enjoyed certain tracks from all the others too.
For me 'In Rock' was the seminal Purple album, many say 'Machine Head' was their classic but it's nowhere near 'In Rock' which still sounds so fresh over 40 years on...
"In Rock" is up in my loft somewhere, along with "Made in Japan" and many other vinyl albums of theirs.
