May be barking completely up the wrong tree with my fancy tomorrow but you are a forgiving bunch so here goes. Its a very long time since SMOKEY OAKEY 25-1 Bri 4,20 had his head in front but tomorrow there are a lot of things in his favour. To begin with he runs on his favoured surface for the first time in a while, turf with a good bit of give. Factor in that he now races off a paltry 54 and has Simon Pearce claiming an extra three pounds off his back. Tomorrows trip suits perfectly too. His five wins have all been on turf running from marks ranging from 77 to 102. Now I know he is regressive but off a miserly 54 and with conditions to suit he is surely worth a bob or two each way. Already have a couple of "live ones" lined up for Wednesday so stay tuned!
Does dear old Dame Judi still own Smokey Oakey??? Win lose or draw today though shouldn’t the old boy have been retired ages ago as he owes connections nothing and it is somewhat sad to see him traipsing round the ‘gaffs’ for a pittance.
Nothing of real interest today but i do think 14/1 is too tempting so i've had a little tenner each way on Bar Stool Bob in the 1.55 at Tipperary.
Morning all New to the site have been looking in for ages ( bbc 606) thought i'd join up and join in!! love racing , LOVE HORSES, love a punt! local track salisbury flat, Wincanton, Newbury, for the jumps, Heading to Ascot for champions day . Also like to say a massive thanks to all the tipping on here its helped me buy the wife a new forest cross which won at a breed show recently with the aim to be broken next year and ridden in various show hacks around the south , so thank you again
Welcome jameser and well done at the show. I have a couple of New Forest ponies, 30.5 years old, bought as foals.
I do like Hamelin in the 3.40 Leicester but, in a field of other also unexposed improvers, that 13/8 best price does seem a bit stingy. The problem now is either it will shorten further or a weight of money for something else will provide a decent price. The latter adding more risk as it will indicate either he isn't going to do himself justice or that the something else is far better than the form shown so far. Also, it could be that a shade further would have been to his advantage on this going. On balance I think if he shortens up at the expense of the opposition, demonstrating confidence, maybe a dabble, catching him at 6/4 while shortening elsewhere, would be the plan for me.
I'll throw in an obvious one - Arctic Fire ought to be up to landing the opener at Tipperary. Has been well supported from an opening 2/1 this morning and now best price 6/4. The German-bred won a flat race in the French provinces and is stoutly bred on the dam side (dam sire Sternkoenig has a strong stamina influence). The adventurous might want to chuck it in a reverse forecast / exacta with another German-bred newcomer Santarius who has some decent flat form in Germany and has also been well supported this morning (6/1 in to 7/2). Later on the same card, Shantalla looks a decent bet in the 4.25 to land the hat-trick - 5/2 freely available.
I see that Jonjo O’Neill has a 3YO making its debut today – but on the level (Port Lairge – 5.10 Leicester). Do you think someone ought to have a word with the old boy (Port Laige not O’Neill) and tell him that if he doesn’t excel in today’s sphere then he’s got a winter ahead of him consisting of McCoy driving him into hurdles and repeatedly whacking him on the rump!
Oddy, I’m sure Port Lairge will have a good education today but its what awaits him in the future that ought to worry the old boy! Interestingly re McCoy I never realised until recently quite how rich his Daddy-In-Law is. Certainly explains how a mere saddle monkey can afford to live where he does!
Afternoon all, Hope everyone well. Having a small punt on: 2:55 Tipperary - Waterloo Chateau 5/1. Had two years off.Impressed with last race and now stepped up in distance which I think will suit. Very competence though. Good luck all.
Afternoon all I like the look of a few at brighton today the first is a gamble though at big odds ziefhd it could go either way but I'm willing to take the chance on this one at the prices available good luck all
