Fair enough? Didn't he himself say he was just one of six who deserve the award?

    (I'm hoping you won't get arsey with a science-related off-topic <doh>).

****ing excellent. If I remember, only four can get it for research in the same area. One of those six is dead, so there's still one missing out.

Those of you with long memories (Old606) know what this means. The future is indeed RED <ok>

I was wrong. It's only two. Higgs and Engert did their research independently. The other group of three, including Tom Kibble, an English guy, missed out. The other one is dead, so couldn't receive it anyway.

This should be ****ing stickied by the way, as it's important news for our club.

Peter Higgs was born in Newcastle, not Edinburgh, by the way.

Seriously (and putting my theory to one side) this is quite incredible. A few guys 50 years ago had the same idea and produced theories that predicted a particle which at the time, couldn't be demonstrated. 50 years and 50 billion quid later, their idea is proven in reality and by experiment to an incredible level of certainty. Fills me with awe and puts the hairs on the back of my neck up.

Right. Schrodinger's Cat et al. I'll have to give that some thought. Instantaneous action at a distance etc.
