True dick, but it was still a ridiculous bit of business. We did the same with Stevenage & Wilson. The word on the street is that we have " allegedly" been a tad slow to meet our payments on him as well My point was more about CPs judgement in the transfer market, which started off well but seems to me to have got progressively worse. Ultimately we need goals to stay up and with Yann now rumoured to be out for another 4 weeks, the sheer idiocy of letting Fuller go beggars belief.
@ Scratch every manager outside of the Premier League has to manage within a budget. The malodorous double standards of the rose tinted SCP brigade leave me reaching for a nose peg. In 2010 SCP was given the Jenkinson money to basically buy promotion from League One. Did the rest of the managers in that league, without two half pennies to scratch their arses with, complain that that was unfair ?
Out of interest, has anyone actually been convinced to change their views on CP from one side to the other of the stay/sack camp? I have'nt, though the clock is ticking, and we all seem to be circulating the same arguments and conclusions week after week. Shall we agree to give it a rest for a week till the next match?
A few of them took little stabs at us for when we signed players before such as I think it was MK Don's boss who mentioned about "a million pound striker" when talking about BWP (yes i know he was before jenkinson went) but they still would moan. And then you may not moan about the opposition as you don't wanna look like an ass.... like Karl Robinson. (sorry I really really hate him)/
Most managers inside the premier league also have to work to a budget , the question is the size. Malodorous - must change the deodorant! Double standards - interested to know where or when? Rose tinted - back to spec savers then!
Who on here knows anything about the players wages or the clubs finances or what Powell was given to spend or who he tried to sign in the window? FOR SURE AND WITH EVIDENCE. How many people doubted Kermit's arrival after what they saw on the Leicester boards? Who called for Powell's sacking after that first half season in charge? Who sung his name on Tuesday and was back on here on Saturday calling for his head? I thought, but for the ability to finish and Sordell's atrocious attitude, we did alright on Saturday, I will continue to believe in stability. I remember some previous winless runs, poor starts and mediocre performances which taken in isolation and dealt with in the way some on here are calling for now, would have robbed me of 1998 and everything that followed. NOT BLIND FAITH. PRAGMATISM AND STABILITY. Still nobody tells me who is waiting in the wings...Pulis at Charlton -really?
I would have liked to have kept Fuller, but he looked overweight and not 100 per cent fit on Saturday.Powell wanted to keep Fuller and Haynes but he couldn't. You cannot blame Powell for that. The owners were looking to cut the wage bill which they did. I think Bolton must be paying a large part of Sordell's salary otherwise it doesn't make sense. With the possibility of Kermy being out for much longer, I don't know where the goals are coming from.
I agree. I apologise for my part in fanning the flames . All together now...."we want Hodgson OUT, we want....."
The economics don't make sense, dick. Surely for the price of Gower and Church plus a leg of Sordell, we could have kept Fuller ? Powell wanted to keep him and Fuller wanted to stay. Unless my eyes are deceiving me, Fuller is a much better player than Church ( their respective career records would tend to support this...) With Yann often injured, Fuller could make the ball stick up front, and he was good at playing team mates in.
CP mentioned numerous times that he wanted to keep Fuller. Fuller's pre match comments were all about his respect for Powell. I think from that we can gauge it wasn't a decision from CP.
And also in regards to the Green, Hollands on loan arguement. Had they not been allowed to move out on loan we would have Pigott as our only fit striker. I'm sure Powell would have loved the added two strikers plus those guys in the squad - but he doesn't have that luxury.
Green should be playing how many chances can we give him impact sub at best who rarely had any impact apart from pre season at welling two years running
