He shat on the floor once because he couldn't make it to the toilet when the nerves got to him and he never hears the end of it.
personally i would have looked elsewhere - but it appears that the sunderland board don't know what a decent manager looks like
ITV are looking at McCleish as a co-commentator for the World Cup alongside Andy Townsend and Clarke Carlisle.
They a few games coming up that they might be able to get some points from. Not that they are better than any of these teams but here are their remaining October and November games. I am sure they will think there are a few winnable games in there. Swansea Newcastle Hull City Man City Stoke Aston Villa
Get real mate ! Stand our squad next to yours and do a direct comparison then see who's squad is poor ! We've just suffered bad management and that has been addressed. Mid table by Christmas. As for your current position, just look at two examples. One - Brucies teams have a knack of falling like a stone in the second half of the season and Two - Blackpool were fourth at Christmas and we all know what happened to them !! The season is 38 games long, NOT 7 !
The difference is we look good at this level, you don't. Most of he who shall not be named signings are average - the league table doesn't lie.
We're playing good football, you're not, that's the difference between the two teams at the moment. Poyet may turn that around, though I don't particularly rate him, so I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't.
Did anyone just hear David Pleat on Radio 4? He was on to talk England but they, understandabley, also asked him his thoughts on Poyet's appointment. Now normally youd expect the usual non-committal platitudes but Pleat said (and Im paraphrasing) "Poyet is an abrasive character, I had him at Tottenham, and sometimes I wonder just how much chairmen research their appointments? It seems to me like the cheap option with no compensation to be paid and I imagine Brighton are delighted." Blimey -thats a pretty damning appraisal. He really didnt mince his words and he clearly had issues with Poyet from their time together.
Didn't Vicente say he was glad his contract at Brighton was up as he no longer had to work with Gus Poyet, saying he was the worst person he'd ever worked with?
