We went thru this a couple of weeks ago.
Companies will have rules that are on occasions are very inconvenient
for a small minority, but we grin and bear it so there are no exceptions or favourites.
I have had it. No doubt others have too.

Just as people are questioning AVB because of possible sidelining of BAE, so
BAE should be asked the questions whether not playing for the seniors or being
loaned to the league below was a price worth paying for not towing the line.

And I am writing as someone who as a child/youth was notorious for cutting
their own nose off to spite their face.

"I wish I'd never mentioned it on here now"

Other ITKs have suggested there are other antics BAE and Ade may have been pulling,
which would I guess make the hotel malarky look like small change. Hope that is not the
case (I am unaware of what the other specifics are) .

Especially after a game in which our group of talented individuals failed to PERFORM. Maybe that was because they are so hide bound by 'THE RULES' laid down by AVB there is no room left for their talent.

IF we have a manager who is more concerned with his rules of engagment than allowing players to express their talents then the sooner he goes the better IMO.

I fail to see the point of spending 100 million on talent if you then force that talent to bend to the rules of one demi-god.

    We will see!

Yes, there were other "antics". Pretending to misunderstand the assistant coach's English, so turning up at 11, yet knowing full well he had said turn up at 10.

I've been a bit naughty here, because i wanted to see the response, but the rule wasn't intoduced by AVB, it was re-introduced. It was the same under Ramos because it affected Woodgate who lived in Canary Wharf aswell, but after an initial whinge, he just got on with it. It was Harry who got rid of it, so to stay inline with your assesment of both managers in your last para, you're now going to have to admit self proclaiming Harry is a better manager than AVB! :D

For what its worth when I played for Deal I met in in Deal, despite playing Dover for example which was where I lived, I just don't see it as an issue.

An extreme scenario but how about this. BAE - "oh sorry avb, I can't play, as i was walking to the hotel with my kitbag I got mugged". Its just unprofessional Spurf, you cannot have players turn up willy nilly at venues for whatever reason, a professional team arrives together and leaves together, that is also why they're paid vast sums.

It's important to look at what the rules he was breaking were, not his individual situation. Is it unreasonable that AVB wanted the team to travel to games together? No. Is it unreasonable that he wanted his players to arrive on time? No. Finally, had Benny given AVB any reason to relax these rules for him? Was he performing so well that he'd earnt a bit of slack? No and no.

What he's asking Benny to do is not impossible, it's not dangerous, it's not insulting, it's not unusual, it's not anything that he doesn't expect everyone else to do. It is Benny's problem not AVB's that he chose not to follow the rules.

It's frustratingly simple for Benny but he's willfully cost us and himself, I'm not surprised the club didn't want him back. He's a good player and we all liked him but I don't see how he's not in the wrong.

I have never made any secret of my agreement with Harry's method of picking the players and allowing them to perform. I have supported that kind of football going right back to the days of Joe Mercer. Remember I am a contemporary of Harry. What I have never like about Harry is his love affair with himself and his CONSTANT media presence.

The irony is that it's very unlikely that Harry would have been able or allowed to assemble the squad we have right now but I am bloody sure he would know what to do with it.

Again, if the bridges are not burned, we hope BAE grows up and is ready in both
mindset and fitness to be recalled into the fold when the next transfer window comes.
It will be a long season, and we need the squad as strong as possible at all times.

I was at QPR on Saturday and he had Kevin Bond on his back throughout the game. personally I thought he was doing ok, but clearly Bond thought otherwise.

I remain firmly in Benny's camp. The talent comes with a price and that is not conformity. This is not an army it's a football team that comprises of individuals, it's the managers job to get the best out that talent and to find ways to enable it.

Think yourself lucky that you have one such as myself as a mod, allowing you all to express yourself with the minimum of interference.

Are the bridges burnt forever, SC ??

I would like BAE the player back in the squad, as there won't be much of a squad upgrade
in LB IMHO by the new year (Fryers is unlikely to come on in leaps and bounds between
    now and then) .

No I don't think they are, because a recall option was put into the loan deal.

I'm not. I'm sure he'd know what to do with the team, but the squad? Don't think so. He had good squads and didn't manage to utilise that depth effectively, in my opinion.
Redknapp's a good manager, one of a few in the Championship that deserve to be in the top flight. I don't think that he will ever adjust to rotation, though.

Spot on about the FA, though! <laugh> Think he may have burned his bridges on the national job.

"No I don't think they are"

Let's hope both BAE and AVB make the compromises needed for
the benefit of the squad and the PL campaign then,

No maybe not the rotation bit but we wouldn't need it because by now we would have lost in Russia and to Norway as he took no interest whatsoever in Europe. <laugh>

He would find his best team and let them play.

A player's ability isn't an excuse for poor behaviour. Look at SAF at United, no matter who it was, if they stepped out of line they were dropped and it didn't matter what game it was either.

Balotelli was not always punished for his behaviour and it caused problems with him, his teammates and eventually his manager even lashed out at him. It's an extreme example but the less extreme examples we would never have heard of, it's all OS's fault we know about Benny's misbehaving! :D

Not convinced YV, I will support the individual talent because they are rare and need to be nurtered not beaten into some kind of submission.

I can't make a case for individual players (including Benny) because I don't know them personally or all the circumstances of each case, but the principle of not suppressing talent by petty rules too suit the ego of the manager I will remain true to. I always have time for the non conformist because I am one myself <ok>

We have lost too many great talents to football in England because of overbearing little tyrants mascarading as managers.

That sounds like the bridges are burned then. If there was ever a need to recall a bloody good left back it was when Rose went off injured.
