Possibly Villas-Boas' worst performance for us, which has been reflected on the pitch.
Picking Walker for Thursday was a mistake and playing him for the whole 90 when he's clearly injured and has contributed nothing is a joke.

I know that a lot of people wanted to see Defoe start, but this wasn't the right game for him to do it in.
Just played a long game on a potato patch during the week and travelled some distance in order to do it.

  3. Sorry, but that performance was absolutely unacceptable.

Defoe simply is not up to playing in the Prem any longer, and Dawson had an absolute shocker.

    Utterly dreadful.

I didn't want him to start. There are no positives from this, none at all. So now what do we do about our forwards who haven't been firing properly all season? Our league scores have been fairly yuch culminating in this crap. However I don't think it will happen too often.

What a pathetic result!.....and to the relegation boys too!!!!!

Oh well! Perhaps we can look forward to next season when our forwards learn to score goals in the PL.........or not!

Well done WHU you deserved it.

A real ****e game, Sigg I hardly noticed. Fullbacks terrible .
Defoe has to score and grab his chance as he adds nothing to the al round team in play.
If both can't score play Bobby as least he can link and create, bully the other team.

This is why we need Sandro in midfield, the arrogance of our fans in general was OTT coming into this game so West ham could pull off a result, we never learn do we.

Can we add this to the bullet points of Avb mistakes.

embarrassing result but in all honesty for the way everyone has been acting, making out we're a great team and Avb is the best young manager in the league, then this is a wake up call and he better learn from this.

Because he hasn't been scoring and Defoe has. There was a story somewhere about Villas-Boas having a preference for picking players against their old clubs too, but I don't know how much truth there is in that.

These results happen to every team at least once a season.

The most scary thing for me is how **** our football is and has been all season. We've been getting results, but there's only 2 or 3 players who are playing well. Our best player at present (holtby) is the only midfielder who is proving to be genuinely dangerous, yet he's not playing prem games. ??

Things need to click fast for Soldado, chadli, Lamela etc and the football needs to improve. I can't watch us play like this all season. It's so boring and predictable.

I still say that he's the best, who's better? Utd lost 4-1 to City but won yesterday so so can we. Penalty wins, late against Cardiff, not scoring in the second half, hell I've been waiting for this to happen but not today though, I thought we'd win 3-0 at least I hoped it. We've not been doing it smoothly all season. When we beat somebody 0-5 away then we should beat them by more at home but we don't, we beat them by less. Well it's wait and see time now.

What I found really strange is AVB sitting watching and doing ..............nothing! Walker, Sigurdsen, and Defoe could have all been subbed BEFORE half time as it was obvious then that it was not working. You can't just pop a Defoe on the front of a team that he has not played with and expect all to be good. He could at least have included Holtby with Defoe and given them both something to work with.

Good morning MrAVB this is your early morning wake up call!

Oh, and we need to start playing with a genuine left winger. It's too narrow in the centre for the the playmakers to pose any threat.

I pedicted a West ham win in the prediction game as I knew a result like this could happen and said I never write any team off.

Even their own fans expected them to park the bus so cheers for being sad enough to read through my posts but this is football, anything can happen and we got hammered today.

Several reasons that this result was the worst thing that could happen today:

    1) Defence
Our supposed sold defensive record has been blown apart. To ship three poor goals at home like we did today, will dissolve any confidence our back four had that we are able to lock teams out. Now we are back to our old ways of being shoddy in defence and not learning from old mistakes.

    2) Midfield
Our build up play is like watching statues. You can't possibly expect to break any Premier League defences open by standing and waiting for the passes to come to you. Where's the movement? Where's the runs to pull players out of position? There was no imagination or invention in our play today. We looked flat and out of ideas before half time. Seems if AVB's Plan A doesn't work, we don't have any alternative tactics. West Ham had us squeezed out of the game from the first minute and you could see they had us under control for most of the game in the important area.

Any teams playing us will know exactly how to set themselves up from here on.

    3) Offence
With such poor service, I can't see where goals will come from in games like these. Soldado concerns me as he seems to have one way of playing, he won't make those essential adjustments and it doesn't suit our style. He has no pace and he isn't a flair player with quick feet or a great footballing brain like a Sheringham or Berbatov. So what does he bring other than certain runs and positions? I'm not blaming him for today as he hardly kicked a ball but I can see him going several more games without breaking his duck from open play.

We are struggling for goals this season in the PL so far and I see us continuing if we attack in the same old obvious, predictable formation.

    4) AVB
Does he not see from quite early on that his system and his team selections don't offer us any width and very little in the way of options? Game after game we seem to hold the ball, get to the final third and just stop. We constantly try to find the smallest of gaps to create an opening. What about creating spaces by moving the defences out of position. We are so static, it is infuriating!

The subs today offered no change as the damage was done already.
