As good as Chelsea are/were today, 3-1 was quite flattering on the overall balance of play. I really though we were going to nick this 2-1 until the balls up by Tettey on the edge of the box for their 2nd As for that 3rd goal - well....what can you say? Hell of a shot! Without a doubt, our best performance so far this season (in the league), and perhaps CH now has an idea about the formation and starting XI
Glad to hear the applause at the end. The team really out a good performance in today and were very unlucky. We deserved something from the game
Yep, very impressive from about the 50th to 80th minute. Deserved our goal, and Pilkington really should have had a penalty as well. If we play that well against teams closer to us in the league table, we're going to be fine. Just a shame that they'd got £62m worth of subs to bring on really, and that Tettey made that mistake.
Definitely harsh on Norwich today. Thought you guys played very well, especially in the 2nd half. Was worried that Norwich would get the second after they had some good possession and were pressing. A draw would have been a fairer result. Mistakes at the back cost your lot today.
Would of been a sending off too. But at least we played well for much of the second half. Plenty of positives, much better movement and midfield seems to be getting itself together
Regardless of tetteys mistake I thought he had a really good game today, him, fer and howson in the midfield really look strong, though they had a greater control of the midfield than Chelsea today
I really like the 3 man midfield of Tettey, Howson and Fer, they seem to be very good at picking each other out and working the ball up the pitch, if it works agains chelsea and a lot of the time it did, then there should be lots of team that will struggle against it.
Dropped a point because we went for three. That's the second time we've conceded on a breakaway having left ourselves light at the back (the other was Villa's goal). Surely have learned the lesson after today -- and so should all the critics demanding "attack, attack, attack". Needed cooler heads, and leadership from Seb and Russ. That apart I agree with Thai. It is beginning to shape up nicely.
I kind of agree Robbie but the problem is, if we don't 'go for it' then the accusations of negativity will echo all around. It's a hard balancing act, but I think most of us were perfectly happy right up to the moment when we got hit on the break, as until that time, only one team was going to score - and it wasn't Chelsea. Football is so cruel sometimes.
We are getting closer to these teams. Whereas before we just got it forward quick trying to nick a goal, we now through periods have an element of control in the game. It has taken two players who cost 70 million to come off the bench and save them today. Proud of the lads, hopefully people can see the progress and we can push on.
Well it just shows surely that you shouldn't have been happy "because only one team was going to score -- us", because we were leaving ourselves open to conceding on the counter attack against a team who played devastatingly on the counter in Europe last week. And the assessment that "only one team was going to score" was actually way out! As was proven. It should be possible to be happy on seeing cool heads making sure we don't get done with a sucker punch.
I thought about this after I posted - I should have said, under 'normal circumstances' and in 'conventional play', only one team was going to score. The reason I said that is because it was not really a ploy for Chelsea to hit on the break - until the 85th minute - and yes, it was a hell of a sucker punch. Everything they did up to that point, was slow build up with some purpose, but when playing a team with such class and ability, there is always a chance of coming a cropper I guess.
