Gerrard could have reacted more quickly but as you say, take it back to basics and what any of us would do. When playing you are always goal side of the man you are marking so it's Enrickys man and he lets him make a run and just holds his position.

Gerrard is slow to react but would have seen the player late, Enricky has to give him a call if he's holding his position. None of us know if he does to give him credit.

    Yeah fair point

Either way this defending of crosses needs to be sorted

We've got trickier games coming up now

I agree, we just don't seem organised and lack that voice at the back.

Plenty of good analysis here, I have read a bit of it but not all so if I make a similar point to one of you guys, apologies.

Firstly, today was interesting for me to see the team operate without Lucas. For a few matches now I have wondered about LLs input, but today I realised we do miss him. Hendo was good going forward, however there were several times when our back line were compromised and there was no interruption to palaces momentum before they got to our defence.

As we all have agreed sakho is beginning to beast opposition attack, which is brilliant, so I think it's now time to lose the stabilisers, I.e. A CB either side of him. Put him with agger and have toure on the bench. We need that extra man for my next point...

My next point; Gerard looked 10 years younger. With a 3 goal cushion Stevie was more relaxed today and was bombing around, something I have missed watching! He was up and around the box much more and I believe if we put another man in midfield and gave him the key to the pitch we would get our midfield general back.

Last couple of points; I know it's because coutinho is out but Moses needs to be put back on the wing. And, sterling should not be given defensive duties again.

Also, Alberto looked handy, stepping out of challenges and pinging balls around the pitch. I feel sorry for aspas but hopefully an fa cup match will help him (long wait)

    ok to post mine tomorrow?

I was greedily disappointed in the second half we didn't keep going but putting it in the bank for the next day eh? credit to palace for never giving up and really just showing a bit of character, useless defending mind you... can see why they'll be relegated and its nothing to do with thier forwards.

Watching their goal again, I would say Enrique should have done a lot better tracking his man and Gerrard was slow to react.

Once again, lapses in concentration let us down and it's why I don't rate Johnson or Enrique as defenders. They may be good at certain things but the basics (Especially at set pieces) is very poor. Agger and Skrtel are both guilty of this as well. Hopefully with Toure, Sakho and Cissokho in the back 4, we should see more improvement.

Think he should be played more tbh. From what I've seen he looks to be a good player. <ok>

Have to disagree about Lucas I dont think we missed him at all. Hnderson gets about the pitch alot better than Lucas this seemed to allow Gerrard to get forward a bit more. Only advantage playing Lucas has for me is we should keep the ball better but this hasnt been the case so far this season. For me Gerrard and Henderson is the way forward. Lucas just doesnt cover as much ground and In my opinion is not a great tackler
