So without going overly FM here, where do you guys think with our current starting eleven we need to improve to see us make 'the next step up', whatever that might be.

Using a standard 4-3-3 formation (Edit: Not 4-3-3, I know :)), I've put *'s on the places I still think we need to make improvements on in the short term.

    -----------Mignolet-----------
    Johnson*-Toure-Sahko-Enrique*
    -------Lucas*--Gerrard--------
    -Coutinho----------Henderson*
    ------Sturridge-Suarez-----

He better want one! And I hope he gets a playmaker as well.

Rodgers wanted a goal scoring midfielder - MKhitryan would have been perfect. Eriksen's development stagnated, he doesn't score many and he often goes missing in the big games. I can understand why our committee weren't interested in him. But as you say, he wasn't an expensive risk ..

I pretty much agree on the areas that need improvement. I would also put Gerrard in that category as well.

We have Cissokho who I feel is an upgrade on Enrique.

Some may feel improving Henderson is harsh, and whilst he does bring great energy and grit, we should still be looking at better - someone who can contribute more. Players don't have to be either hard working/techincally lacking or technical geniuses but lazy. We should be looking at the total packages. Henderson is no doubt a great player to have in the squad no doubt.

I agree, I think all of the players highlighted would be great squad players, but I feel as if we could get reasonable upgrades on each of them.

Think we need to see what Cissokho is like first, he's hardly played any minutes for us yet. If he works well then would be healthy competition at LB. We certainly need a specialised RB, despite what everyone says about Kelly/Wisdom, think made my feeling pretty clear on those 2 playing RB on a long term basis.

Everyone knows we need a strong athletic CM to add a bit of power that we're missing and possibly one more creative player (Eriksen would have been ideal).

The rest seems to be alright at the moment though assuming no one leaves

Gerrez - I wonder how many times you've said 'see my signature' so far this season? <whistle>

Ps - someone want to be a legend and post the highlights on here for me?

Nice to see Toure looking at and holding his hands up to Gerrard for their goal, it was his man that got the header and Gerrard didnt try and challenge

Obv he's a legend but he shouldnt be without criticism

Combination of Enricky and Gerrard, the striker actually makes a run from behind Gerrard who should of reacted better, Enricky and Gerrard should have talked and decided who is actually picking him up.

So how did that stop Gerrard from at least putting him under pressure?

Pretty sure it was Gerrard missing the ball at the near post and Enricky losing his man in the goal we conceded against United from the corner as well.

Yeah we need to sort this defending of crosses out

Also for todays goal the lad run in front of Gerrard didnt he?

So he saw him, and given that he did, no matter where he came from should have put him under pressure at least for me

When a player makes a run (have to be careful on the wording here) from behind you it can be hard to react, the scorer is between Enricky and Gerrard and makes his run from behind Gerrard. IMO Enricky has to track him but would then leave a hole so that point is debatable.

It's the fault of both players. We are playing a man marking system and not zonal as far as I can tell, neither Gerrard or Enricky are marking anyone in that move. Communication is key Gerrard and Enricky need to decide who has got him.

IMO Gerrard should have the post and be tighter on it, Enricky is the marker and should track the run.

Fair point, when I play (before snapping my leg) and even if im marking a man and another pops up you've have to challenge. Esp right in front of your own goal

Enricky should have gone with him but he didnt so I still stand by my point, Stevie should of at least pressured him
