It's a three way head to head between Stoke, Slough and Grimsby. Grimsby takes it for me.

I'd say Stoke is number one.

Sadly, having visited recently, I'd consider sticking Bridlington in there. A shadow of its former self, a real dump, and full of life's losers.

I am shocked to see this book has slated Hull for so long, have they never been to Immingham? *shudder*

They slated it once. It hasn't been published since then, although I could have sworn they did a second one before now.

There was an update/revised/second edition - Hull had moved to 9th crappest (can't recall which was no. 1).

I was just about to write the same - utter **** hole.

Runcorn - can give anywhere in the UK a run for downright ****ness. Cumbernauld, Middlesbrough, Luton, Bradford, Birmingham - All decaying places with as much **** as anywhere.

there are some right dumps in Coventry, does the author of said book actually visit each town/city visited to check it out or does he rely on bitter and twisted people from other towns for the "facts".

Thinking of doing a best place to live book - the pity is i'm biased and would put Hull in the top 3 alongside Leamington Spa and Beverley

York in the top ten is ridiculous. Intrigued to know what they're basing that on!

Oban is Scotland is a god awful town surrounded by beauty , much like how Stoke is .
But for me London is a ****hole , OK we all go to the best bits , but that is a small area of the capital .
There is large swathes of no go areas for most of us , especially at night .
Nottingham is another city that looks nice on visits and that , but i'd never wish to live there .

Having travelled a lot in Wales there is a lot of **** towns there , but they are so under any radar they wont ever feature . . . anywhere .

I was talking to a couple of Villa fans just a few minutes ago in pub.

They told me they had had a cracking time today, the people were lovely, the pubs were good and the beer was cheap.

They can't wait to come back.

Hull is great, there you are.
