Regrettably I had to clip the Swans wings, but they flew out of here anyhow [le god I'm hot tonight].

Don't see it here so thought I'd post that Shaw is doubtful due to illness.

Turns out I'm going to be missing this one, which is a pain. Should hopefully catch the end on a stream.

    Indeed you may.

We have forum rules such that pornography cannot be shown. A couple of the Swansea people posted videos that, while not explicit pornography, were clearly made to show off the bodies of the girls in bikinis and for no other reason. This is a mixed gender football forum, and as a moderator, I sometimes have to make a snap judgement on what is acceptable material. I deemed this potentially offensive stuff, so I deleted it, closed the thread, and explained to the posters why.

I haven't told them off, banned them or anything. Our new Swansea friends are entirely free to return, but they know where the limits are on this football forum. There you go.

If shaw can't start I really hope clyne plays left and chambers plays right. With our first choice fullbacks we are a different prospect, chambers looks good going forward but hasn't been comfortable enough as a right back to bomb forward and I think we will be significantly comprimised without shaw like against norwich.

We have started poorly and Swansea are too good a team to start slowly against, I want to see us gamble from the start and really attack them. If it takes 500+ minutes to score from open play we really have to start as we mean to go on.

"I like the team they have. It's a team who can be in the top 10.
"Those spots - eight, nine and 10 - are the maximum for them and us in terms of what we can go for.
"I still believe you have all the big sides. The Manchester clubs, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool and Everton. That's seven.
"In my opinion, the rest of us play for eighth position and down."

If I was a Swansea fan I'd actually be disappointed with that. We should be aiming high. We've already beaten Liverpool and whilst top 6 is unlikely this season we should be striving to get there.

One thing we've learnt under Michael Laudrup is he’s 100% honest and factual previous managers have told us how well we played having lost and generally billed us as top six in waiting.
Laudrup only gives the truth whether we like it or not. But when he does think something achievable you’d better believe it. Watch any of his post-match interviews and you’ll see it, far too honest for the Premier League lol

Staying in Southampton tonight see you all tomorrow ;)

Laudrup....a manager without dreams other than moving to a "big club" and using Swansea as a springboard to his personal glory.
Without dreams and ambition we wouldn't spend our lives supporting clubs like Saints and Swans. Having a management team and players that have with such ambition to challenge the "big boys" make Saints a great place to be

The impetuousness of youth, rabbit. You're always in a flaming rush, like that rabbit in Alice in Wonderland. I very much doubt your wish will be granted. This will be the toughest test at St Marys so far this season, and we may have to be patient. I'll be happy to see us keep the ball, keep our shape, and wait for the openings.

So if the video was not pornographic how was it offensive? If looking at the female form and saying "that is a thing of beauty" is now offensive then it is a sad reflection on our times. Why are we so prudish about mild nudity? And afraid to say"yes that's attractive"? Its a good job we do though- be the end of the human race if we didn't!

I don't think that anyone would disagree with the notion that it's highly unlikely that we'll make Champions League (unless they fold the Europa League in, which appears to be a long-term possibility), but I don't see the harm in aiming high. We've had the big clubs sniffing around several of our players, and none have really had their heads turned, partially because they all seem to have bought into the notion that we can crash the party at some point. I'm not sure that they'd be so eager to sign long-term deals if our stated ambitions were to sneak into the top half each year.

Now, that might well fall apart in the harsh light of day over the next couple years, but for now it seems to be doing far more good than harm.

I'm always bewildered by the obsession on here with scoring from open play. It's as if set piece goals don't count. Last time I looked they were worth just as much as a sparkling dribble through ten defenders followed by a perfect chip over the goalkeeper.

Also, to get a set piece that can be converted into a goal then, almost by definition, you are putting enough pressure on your opponents to concede free kicks in dangerous places and/or corners. The kind of pressure our pressing style generates leads to mistakes.

For example, the corner we scored from at Liverpool was conceded following two mistakes under heavy pressure starting at a Liverpool throw-in near our penalty area. They were like headless chickens as our players forced them back. To dicount that goal as it was just a set-piece goal is pretty unfair. We WON that goal as the result of pressure throughout the game. Ditto SRL's free kick against Palace. Dani looked like dribbling out of the middle of five CP defenders circling like flies and they had no choice but to foul him od they'd almost certainly have conceded. We won that goal as well.
