Thats down to them, I've read through it and there's nothing to go off crying about. If you can't handle any form of abuse, then don't get involved with arguments. If they want to leave its their loss, not ours, others will come along and replace them. This board is not here to pander to individuals, its a DISCUSSION board, I've no interest in people playing drama queens or claiming misrepresentation. Your on a discussion board, it happens, you just accept it because it will happen. Happens to me all the time, I just cannot be bothered to keep referring back and forth trying to defend everybody's different interpretation. Pointless exercise. The last thing I want is for everyone to get along, disagreement is where the interest lies, I guarantee the majority of those involved in that discussion enjoyed it more than most. We're at work all day (apart from the Ipswich lot obviously) and its nice to release some ideas and say what you want to strangers. I think this ERIK chap is an ugly character, I'm pretty sure he sent me a message some time ago and I think he does it a fair bit. He's not genuine.
Well then don't read it. Why should the others stop because your deciding to read something YOU find uncomfortable. Make the decision yourself rather than relying on others to parent you.
The only drug I'm on is Norwich city and a fair whack of Alcohol. I reckon, considering the highs and lows I've experienced in my time as a Norwich fan, can rival many class A substances. BTW just had a look at the pre-match conferences and announcements and such, got a good feeling about Sunday. If we can keep the ball and take the game to their midfield theres absolutely no reason we cant get a scalp.
Maybe because this is a football forum cArrabuh? Don't dismiss people because they Feel uncomfortable He probably read it because the op was about the hughton case
I was going to ask if you saw the Alistair Campbell debate with the Daily Fail assistant editor/teaboy. You would have loved it. Campbell was at his bullying best,no doubt fresh from watching Burnley go top of the table he almost made this weedy little fella cry.I just wanted it to go on until the Mail gimp went outside and slit his wrists.
I'm not dismissing him for feeling uncomfortable. I'm dismissing the opinion to close threads because THEY find it uncomfortable.
I understand that the moderator's have a tricky job, to make it easier for them, instead of moaning that a thread should be closed would it not be easier to just avoid it. Nobody is forcing anyone to post or read a certain thread. My point is unless there is an obvious breach of the rules or it is seriously getting out of control, than that would be when to close it. Other than what Erik was saying, I thought it a fairly reasonable debate and I don't think Gandy and Rob's departures were anything to do with the subject of the thread.
That's pretty much my standpoint really.I understand that Erik was more extreme in his views than most of us,although if what he was saying was true I can see how people might come to hold his views.By definition the fact that we are on here means that we are likely not to live in poorer areas where there are issues regarding crime etc. It's no good middle class folk living in nice areas just dismissing these problems because if you do then all that happens is these people find other outlets for their frustration. It could be Nutty Nige of UKIP or Nutty Nick of the BNP.It's how Hitler gained power. So I see closing threads as part of this.Maestro thought it an attack on him but it wasn't.Rather it was an attack on the philosophy that says if you find something uncomfortable just sweep it under the carpet.Chris Hughton is a fine chap who just happens to be black. His credentials as a manager are questioned by some but I think that he is an excellent role model. But let's not get carried away.Young men from ethnic minorities commit more crime than their white counterparts.Given the history of immigrant communities it would be quite frankly surprising if they didn't.Their grandfathers had to put up with signs saying "No dogs,no blacks,no Irish" and that discrimination has ended up with their grandchildren knifing and shooting one another in Brixton. No amount of closing threads is going to alter that.
