I think its time to place his time with Sunderland in the past now. Personally, I'm fed up of hearing it in every interview he does with the national press.

    Aye good interview
Bruce says that the strategy at the club is to "slowly but surely build so that it doesn't have the boom and bust like before". Hull were on the brink of administration in December 2010 until Assem Allam came to their rescue by loaning the club £41m that season. Allam, however, has since whipped up a storm on Humberside by announcing plans to change the club's name to Hull City Tigers next year.

It is an awkward subject for Bruce to address. "The one thing nobody can say against them [the Allam family] is they've put their money where most people wouldn't. And without them, I think this would be on the verge of a Portsmouth.

"I can respect traditionalism, of course. There's nobody likes it more than I do. However, to go from Hull City AFC to Hull Tigers, in the big scheme of things … if the owner wants to do it, then we have to say, 'It's his prerogative.' As long as we're not going to be playing in pink next week and he wants to call us the pussycats!" Bruce says, laughing.

"The good thing about it, let me assure the supporters, is that I'm the manager and he lets me manage. He never interferes at all. I have a glass of red with him after the game once a month. He wants his team to do well and thankfully we've done OK."

    Hmm same stance as me

For those with sky sports Steve Bruce has done an in depth interview on various matters football wise.

It will be shown on SSN between 6pm and 8pm TONIGHT on a programme called Weekend Warm-up.

Hopefully, we play them and beat them and it'll be done with.

I do agree with this. Im sure the journos bring it up rather than Steve and if he says "Im not talking about that" it makes him look a little churlish so he has to and that's what we read. But it's gone, yes it hurt but move on.

Still, he's just a really nice bloke isnt he? I always say he feels like an 'Uncle Steve'. For example, I havent heard many other managers apologise for swearing in a press conference when he suddenley realised women were in there.

Best part is that Bruce says he has isnt interfering. Bruce seems to be one of very few people that Allam respects the opinion of and seems to be just letting him get on with it.

Kiss of Death??? Hope not. Brownie did one when we first got into the Premier League and went on that wonderful run. That was the end of that.

Sensible talk from SB re the name change, and one that I cannot disavow.

Took the words out of my mouth. As usual Brucie you talk common sense.

I dont want to go down this old route again but I just dont get this. How is it the owners perogative? The club has existed for over a century without him having his ego massaged by a name change.

I honestly dont think there is another club in the country whose fans would be so apathetic and as prepared to roll over and accept this royal shafting "cos he's the owner". I actually think apathy is a real Hull 'thing', even away from sport.

Everyone was spunking when AA came out and said the club would be ran as a business. Businesses change names all the time for one reason or another.

    "Everyone was spunking"?

yes they do, but those reasons are normally sound business decisions rather than the whim of a mentalist megalomaniac owner.

Successful businesses rarely change their names.

Successful football clubs never change their names.

One of the more intersting points that has rarely been mentioned is the current trend of MLS teams ditching their ****ing ridiculous Yee-ha Yankee names in favour of more traditional sounding identities ie Dallas Burn became FC Dallas and Kansas City Wiz became Sporting Kansas City. Strange how Mr Allam doesnt seem to have picked up on this.

But then those Americans know nothing about Marketing.

The events of the last week or so don't correspond with your 'apathy being a Hull thing' theory.

WST Browny was going into something he'd never done before. Interviews left right and centre, Question of Sport etc etc. And rightly so, he got us there for the first time ever and desevred to enjoy it. He probably did get carried away.

Bruce (Senior) has been there done that. He knows how to play the press and TV and get them onside. I don't think his head will be turned by the attention he or the team is getting. I don't think he'll let the team get carried away either.

As if SB is going to openly rubbish his chairman's ideas however bizarre.

He's an experienced well-trained media personality who knows the rules.

See his handling of the Brady diving accusation for further proof.

Tired of the 'I'm no dinosaur' stuff too.

Canny stuff by SB ...always lures them down same track.
