You can't condone what Torres did but Vertoghen was the first to raise his hands. I'm certain Torres didn't touch him and he dived which is why Torres was pissed at him. Vertoghen then began the physical stuff. He could have gone for that. Intent is what the law says not how hard you hit them.

You've got the rule book so look it up you lazy ****.

I take it you know what attempts means but just incase it means you don't actually have to kick them, trip them or strike them just make an attempt to do it IE intent.

Kicks or attempts to kick an opponent
Trips or attempts to trip an opponent
    Jumps at an opponent
    Charges an opponent
Strikes or attempts to strike an opponent
    Pushes an opponent
    Tackles an opponent
Or commits any the following offences:
    Holds an opponent
    Spits at an opponent
Handles the ball deliberately (except for the goalkeeper within his own penalty area).

Yes. Those are all fouls which is completely irrelevant in this context as Verthonghen 'raised his hands' when the ball was out of play. The only relevant offences when the ball is out of play are Violent Conduct which didn't occur and unsportsmanlike behaviour which is a yellow card at worst. So your point that 'raising hands' is punished by a red card is incorrect. I'm pretty sure I've heard Mark Lawrenson say on MotD that 'raising hands' means a red card but fortunately that is insufficient to get it into the rules!

Firstly wtf does the ball being out of play have to do with it LOL and secondly I think Strikes or attempts to strike adequately covers it. You really are a bellend.

As you have helpfully pointed out above, attempting to trip an opponent is equally a foul, so your being certain that Torres didn't touch him, while being ludicrous is also irrelevant to whether a foul was committed. The only way you could be certain that he didn't attempt to trip him would be if you were Torres himself.

Because the section of the Laws you listed is the the offences that free kicks get given for which only applies if the ball is in play. This whole discussion is about whether Vertonghen should get a yellow or red card. He pushed him, he didn't strike or attempt to strike him.

Please leave out the personal abuse.
