Unless you have performed some sort of wide spread qualitative analysis of teachers’ experience currently; from state to academies, from free schools to fee paying, how can you not say that your opinion is not a generalisation? Unless, you’re unfamiliar with the term/concept; or more than likely, loathe to admit you’re wrong despite it being written for all to see. How can you possibly claim to understand and have knowledge the wide ranging teacher experience? How can you put a price on what teacher does and what their experience is? Could you enlighten me to your formula so I can see it and perhaps fall in line with your considered and well founded judgement? Do you think that sort of argument would stand up academically: essentially, I have no actual evidence (apart from anecdotal evidence and my own opinion) that teachers have it ‘cushy’ but my opinion is that they have, therefore they do. I note that you opted not to respond to my question about your own involvement in teaching. Fair enough but from that one can draw their own conclusions. So, to repeat, are you seriously (with a straight face) trying to argue that saying ‘teachers have always had it cushy’ is not a generalisation? With regard to the other post, I condemned all of England for a lack of heart and cowardice. I'd stand by this as a majority view, but I know some truly inspirational people in this country, therefore, I would not band them in. I'm glad you state that you do not want to reduce the wages of these professionals. However, I reject your sentiment and I believe the majority of the public sector cuts are borne from ideology. We will (we as the majority) will pay this price.
I've nowt against the kid (Bum Chin) but he's a bit of a dick. I do recall he once said on here he was 'a reasonably successful person' and more or less stated his wages (which was way above the national average). He works in something like marketing or PR, which of course, is vital to the country running smoothly. On his death bed, or in heaven high, he'll be able to look back and revel in the difference he made.
In a previous life, I had a job where I came onto contact with some very rich men ( piloting their own planes to meetings where they would turn up in polo shirts, or others who employed guards to protect their families against kidnappers, and owning businesses in several sectors in several countries etc). I noticed that the truly wealthy ones were often very humble and modest, and displays of wealth were almost taboo to them (as well as disadvantageous). On the other hand most of the low level middle manager two bob ****s, screeched their comparatively minute 'wealth' at every opportunity. Truly cringeworthy. Which is why I find personalised number plates ****ing hilarious
It depends what the personalised plate says. I'd have one saying BY3 BYE, 2 SLOW or W4NKER for example. But I agree that J0HN S or 1 AM P4UL is crap.
Okay, teaching is a profession, populated by working teachers. The big debate is that the teaching profession (a singular occupation) is enjoying well above average pension and holiday rights and that, to me,makes it a cushy profession, which includes the people who are employed in that profession. Now that view, the same one I offered earlier, is specific to a single profession and it's terms and conditions; not a broad range of professions, which would make it a generalisation. As for you wanting to know more about me, **** off and annoy someone who might be impressed by your nonsense ramblings; you can make what you wish of that
May I ask which skills your current job in sales requires? What training you had to do? What qualifications it demands or can any **** do it? Previously, I’ve worked in sales (for longer than you dabbled in teaching) and guess what, I also know people who work and worked in sales (yes and for years). But, I’d never assume I know what your job is like or what you’re worth. You volunteered the information about dabbling into teaching, now have gone all shy about it. Couldn’t you hack it, or did you realise you could make better money elsewhere for less grief? Your ‘argument’ (chortle) not only lacks cogency but doesn’t have a scrap of evidence that would stand up in any context other than the ****ing pub.
It is not important as I am on an anonymous board talking to someone who is doing a damn fine job of masquerading as a fool you really are that funny, or is it pathetic
Let’s face it, you’re not as bright as you like to think you are and generally speaking, what I find from your posts (to generalise – thematic isn’t it?), they usually involve a banal cyclic discourse that resolves nothing apart from revealing that you’re pretty spiteful when challenged, ignorant and generally believe in sitting on your hands in the main whilst choosing to take a thousand words to express that.
I'm surprised you haven't asked me whether or not I have made a sacrifice for my country, as that's one of your standards. Unlike you, I've never claimed to be particularly intelligent, but I can spot a pompous fool and there you are.
Can you point out where I specifically claim to be intelligent? Or is that just you not understanding what words mean again? Yes, I have commented upon the nature and will of those who live in this country but at no point have I entered or offered any such patriotic rhetoric or questioning (highlighted and spoonfed for your clarity) as you state as one of my 'standards'. Human beings are much more important to me than England is; therefore if I demanded any proof of sacrifice towards something, it would have been most certainly a sacrifice for the fellow man/humanity. That is, if you can call my expectations for people to fight injustice as a sacrifice, or for people to not be hasty in assuming what the work of a teacher is worth. If that is a sacrifice, then again, one wonders what boring drama your life is or alternatively how snide and narrow it is. Further, I have never asked anyone on this forum: what have you done for your country? Fellow worker, human being etc. maybe (in so many words) but country, never. Again, one struggles to imagine how can claim it be a 'standard' of mine - though we've already seen on this thread your ideas of rock solid proof and watertight arguments. Reading comprehension (as well as cogency) is not a strong point of yours is it.
As an nqt you should be right behind stopping unqualified teachers working in our classrooms. That alone should encourage you to strike. Get behind your union. You'll soon be running for their help if things go tits up in your classroom. Gove will destroy our profession.
A ****ing **** response and poor avoidance tactic. Not surprised you downed tools so to speak under the weak guise of a ‘witticism’ and being bored. Bored. How ironic, you’re up there with the most dreariest of ****s on this forum. You’ve nothing to say beyond the superficial, no argument beyond the surface, no balls beyond the zip and no brains beyond the automaticity of your pre-programmed laissez fair liberal talking **** box.
Leon T You're wasting your time with Fez. My mother was a teacher and I know the amount of time she devoted to the job particularly after the afternoon bell rung. It put me off the thought of teaching and went into Local Government. Cushy life not a bit.The amount of out of hours work unpaid was unbelievable but was it enjoyable yes.
People just trot out the same half baked stuff they've been spoonfed unfortunately. They then see it as their own ideas and observations. Invent proof and convince themselves. I assume people like yourself and your mother are motivated by making society better by helping its children or serving its people. Yet, this is largely scorned. If your mother or yourself earned a shed load of money by some legal but unscrupulous means, exploiting some poor sod or other, you'd get much much more kudos from society as a whole.
