There were loads of examples in the 80s when Souness was Rangers manager, KFD; the likes of Chris Woods (ex Rs keeper), Gary Stevens, Trevor Steven, Terry Butcher for example.

He flapped at a couple of crosses early on but made a couple of worldy saves to keep the score to 1

If he gets injured, it's back to Brian Murphy until Cesar's broken finger knits....!!

Green pretty much ruined my Summer after that howler against the US. I'm happy for him to be doing well in the Championship but don't think he has the nerve for England

What you're forgetting is that the whole England squad was awful that summer. Do you remember David James' performance against Germany? He should have saved at least 2 of their goals. Green made one mistake, probably fewer than anyone else who made an appearance at the WC that year.

The problem for goalkeepers is that each mistake they make is usually calamitous, whereas most outfield players can **** up ten times per match and only create one clear goalscoring opportunity for the opposition, and then his teammates, particularly the 'keeper, often bail him out.

Goalies are therefore more under the microscope.
