http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/john-oshea-demands-more-sunderland-2334439#ixzz2gfnZI5Rl John O'Shea warned his Sunderland team mates to start winning ugly if they want to save their Premier League lives - starting with Manchester United. The struggling Black Cats are rock bottom of the league after a disastrous start to the season that cost manager Paolo Di Canio his job after just five games. The fiery Italian denies he was shown the door because of dressing room unrest or fan unease following their 3-0 defeat to West Brom. But owner Ellis Short acted soon after and now his managerless side are propping up the division having only picked up only a solitary point against fellow relegation favourites Southampton. A much improved performance in their recent 3-1 defeat to Liverpool in their second game under caretaker boss Kevin Ball, though, showed signs that club could still save their season. But skipper O'Shea admits he would instantly swap any praise for their pretty football for three points when they host his former club on Saturday who are hoping to avoid a hat-trick of defeats in their worst start to a season in a generation. "The positives don't count for anything," he told the Sunderland Echo. "Believe me, anyone in the dressing room would rather play terrible and win the games 1-0. "We have to get away from moral victories when we have done okay or done this and done that. We have to stand up and take responsibility, make sure we get clean sheets and go ahead in games. "The players need to get this home crowd behind us and give them something to cheer about, rather than them having to get us going all the time. "We did that in the second half against Liverpool, but we need to be doing that from the start. "The sooner we get the win on the board the better, and why not against United? We are under no illusions that it's going to be tough, but we have to start somewhere." Him and Larsson have been the worst performers in our team this season! Think he needs to look at his own performances before he has a go at others Think I read in another post, Colback and Celutska/Gardner have been our strongest defenders⦠What a farce
He needs to stop trying to be the media's best friend, stop bleating at everyone else and sort out his own performances.
I think JOS is putting himself forward as player spokesperson / leader purely to pull the wool over the new manager / coach eyes. When our 'next' messiah arrives he will undoubtedly look in the dressing room for a leader... I think JOS is already staking his claim?! There is only ONE leader in that dressing room.. !!
I'll get my missus onto it Bri... You can't get away with anything with her.. And she can ALWAYS prove it
Lucky you's mines like columbo, cigar, trench coat, bong eye, the lot, and she's always got got one more bloody question
Best place for him. He bears an uncanny resemblance to Paddy Mcguiness of Max and Paddy fame. Sometimes I think it is actually Paddy Mcguiness on the field he is that bad.
Its a pure captains call for 110% from all his team mates i know he aint been great but **** me lets support then instead of hammering him for our own personal agendas
