I have met a lot of Man United fans here at university (most of them are actually from the Manchester area, amazingly) and the majority of them think he should be nowhere near the United squad, never mind the England one.
More games + more training sessions with England = Increased chance. Its something Hull City could do without at the moment.
I think it's ore, he hasn't lived up to his promise. He came through as the bright star and played very well in his first few games for United, but he hasn't really kicked on. Like Walcott did after his move, he's only just started playing to his potential.
So he's the Alex Bruce of Man U? You've got to value Hodgson, Moyes and Ferguson's opinion more than the fans.
Smalling should be not be in the squad either. Hodgson came out not long ago and said he was only picking players based on form. Clearly bullshit as even though he is picking players such as Barkley and Townsend (coincidentally those two are at fashionable clubs) he is also picking players who don't even bloody play.
I just personally don't think we have a side anywhere near good enough to compete in a competition, I think Hart is very over rated, Cahill is a good centre half, Jagielka is average, Baines is obviously excellent. Gerrard and Wilshere are both excellent, Gerrard I agree has been terrific for England. I do not rate Wallcott at all he was absolutely awful against Ukraine I have never seen an England player so wasteful in possession, Rooney hasn't done it in the past few competitions for England, Welbeck seems to be improving a lot. For me Sturridge has to play, our biggest hope and we should build our side around him.
I think Oxlade Chamberlain should get a few more minutes, is he injured at the minute? Haven't seen him much lately.
People will likely get 'injured' this weekend and have to miss the international break, so Thudd might get called up in that way. Unfuckinglikely though. He'll probably just pick someone from United's bench.
Hodgsons a **** fact. Never mind Hudd Woy shoulda named Harper Rosenior Cahill Curtis Cole Gerrard Hudd Livermore Fat Frank Rooney Graham Chezzy too if he wasnt injured. Piece of piss
Oxlade Chamberlain is going to make one hell of a player I reckon. I'd have him in the England squad whenever he's fit. He's flexible too he can play just about anywhere in midfield.
PLT Cleverley is a crab. He's got a decent engine and can tackle but he's got the shot of dean marney. He only seems decent now and again because he has better players around him. Even if he was decent at passing sideways so what? England have Carrick who is mean't to be the player to keep things ticking over, wilshire to do the same in advanced positions, Lampard, Gerrard and Barkley as the drivers/shooters/power players. Cleverley adds nothing to that. Huddlestone has an excellent range of passing and vision. At least he would be different.
I agree that amongst all those other midfielders Cleverley adds nothing they don't already offer. Roy seems to like playing him as a winger which is something I don't understand at all but there's obviously a reason for it. I think Huddlestone is very similar in style to Carrick though so I can understand why he doesn't get picked. I'd love us to get a full international and I think we probably will at some point this season but I don't think anyone has done enough to earn one yet.
Fair enough. If his form continues throughout the season though you'd have to give him a chance in a friendly no?
