Agreed, we need a complete overhaul if were to do anything over there, even then I don't think there's the quality of player or the management set up capable of getting us anywhere in a major tournament.
I've got a good solution. We need to convince Cameron and the twats to invade Wales and make it England. Why? Because then we can stick Bale and Ramsey in our squad and we suddenly look miles stronger. Get it sorted twats.
Incidentally, why hasn't Tom Cairney's form for Blackburn seen him get a call up? They're calling up League 1 players like Leigh Griffiths and Chris Burke is a big bag of ****. No wonder they never qualify for anything. Ah yes, Ikechi Anya, of the famous Anya highland tribe. Wonderful Scottish name. Aren't there any Brazilians who qualify for England?
I wouldn't say Brazil are any better than us at present. They sound Ritter because there players have cool names, but in reality I think we're very even player for player, if not us slightly better. They have Neymar, who is truly talented more than any of our players, but he's more concerned with falling over and spending 60 of the 90 minutes pretending to be hurt craving attention, so he's actually pretty ****. I know the Spanish don't hate diving as much as us, but at a club like Barca, I'd have thought the first thing they'd say to him would be to stop being a fairy, diving and pretending to be hurt. Not a good example by the arguably biggest and best club in the world at present. I thought it was unreal watching him fall over and feign injury like a prat against the formidable Celtic the other night, truly unreal.
He was never going to get in because RH hadn't been at any of our games, if he's still going strong in Jan, then maybe RH will turn up or even to our game at Man Utd around Christmas. As for that squad, it should get England there & at least the 1/4's.
Hodgson had someone watching him at the West Ham game. Clearly he didn't see something everyone else in the stadium did.
I would: Julio Cesar Marcelo Maicon Thiago Silva Dani Alves Hernanes Luiz Gustavo Oscar Hulk Neymar Luis Fabiano Based on there last squad, that's a line up that could beat anybody on their day. I wouldn't fancy England's chances against them. I still can't for the life of me work out how Jo keeps getting a call up. He's like a **** Manucho.
I can't understand why people are so convinced that's a poor squad. We've got a brilliant choice of midfielders there and some very good full backs and strikers. Centre back is relatively weak since Terry retired but still better than the vast majority of national teams. There are no real out and out wingers but no one has them now anyway it seems and we'll be playing a 4-3-3 anyway I imagine. When you say at the moment I can't help but think you're probably just basing that on the current perception that Cleverley is ****. Does anyone on here watch him play much? I know I don't so I can only really go on his England performances and more importantly the fact that two top managers keep picking him, and so did Ferguson so I have to think this is all a bit exaggerated. He can't be half as bad as people make out. Gerrard has been England's best player since Hodgson took over. Doesn't matter how old he is when he's playing better than he ever has done for England. My team for what it's worth: Hart Walker Cahill Jagielka Baines Gerrard Wilshere Walcott Rooney Welbeck Lambert
Hmm. See here's the thing. Chris Smalling, who's made 1 appearance all season is in the squad and will probably make an appearance. Curtis Davies, who has recently inherited the captains armband for his club, scored a goal and has put in a string of solid performances and doesn't even get a sniff. I don't get it? Why would you call up what is effectively a United reserve player? It's a complete waste of time. Even if you aren't going to play him, it's better to have them on standby just in case the worst happens.
Huddlestone isn't good enough to get best Gerrard, Lampard or Wilshere, and as ****e as I think Carrick is he's had a good last 12 months. However, if Hodgson thinks Cleverley is the right player to fill the remaining midfield spot he's very much mistaken. He's ****. In fact, he's worse than ****. He's Simon Walton / Junior Lewis standard ****.
I actually think Cleverley is a very good player, don't quite understand all the criticism of him. He's not quite managed to pull miracles out the hat yet, but he's a good all round player. We should be glad it's a young up coming midfielder getting in the squad rather than another old has been like Scott Parker.
He obviously feels Smalling is a better player. It's not that unfeasible for a Man United reserve player to be better than our first team players.
