Of course they will buy, anything to get rid of the 'Cash Converter' logo. Lots of posters said they wouldn't buy with that logo, but it still sold.
OLM, shouldn't it be the riot group mainly raising points for Dr. Allam and not the other way around? It makes it sound as if they're going there to be convinced by Dr. Allam that the name change is well cool, when really they need to convince him that its well sad.
We'll be there making our own case, but it would be useful to have some idea of why he's called the meeting, before we attend.
Name Change Press Release from the OSC... STATEMENT FROM THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE HULL CITY OFFICIAL SUPPORTERS CLUB (HCOSC) REGARDING THE PROPOSED NAME CHANGE OF THE FOOTBALL CLUB AND THE CITY TILL I DIE CAMPAIGN Unlike other “independent” supporters groups, the HCOSC is the Official (properly authorised by Hull City) Supporters Club and the priority of the Board of Directors is to represent ALL of its paying members and safeguard their interests and advantages of being members. At the last count we had 1561 members. All these members have recently been asked to vote on the proposed name change of the Football Club via an Electronic Newsletter and the Tigermag. By these means all have been given the opportunity to vote. While the majority have not responded to the request to give their views on the planned name change, those that have, by two to one, are opposed to it. We have the names and contact details of all those who voted. The result of this vote is as follows and this information has already been forwarded to the Football Club. Against the name change 50 votes For the name change 25 Indifferent to the name change 11 A Total of 86 votes The percentage of vote is disappointing but that is all we can go on at this point in time. The vote on our Official Website was not restricted to just members and it appears thousands voted but we do not know who they are and who they represent, so the above vote is clearly the one we should take into account. It could be argued that the 1475 members who did not vote are not concerned one way or another but that is open to conjecture. We can only respond to the votes received. It is also fair to say that the majority of members who voted For or Indifferent are keen to keep the word City in the name and this should be reflected in future discussions and why we as a Board will follow the “City Till I Die Campaign” with interest. Representatives from the Board have recently met with the owners and staff of the Football Club and they are aware of our position. We are also in the process of correspondence with the Premier League and the Football Association regarding what criteria they consider regarding supporters consultation. As time progresses and the situation develops, we will continue to consult with our members on a regular basis. We are also well aware that our members, as individuals or as a group, will act in whatever way they wish to do so in the future. We are aware that this is an important issue and individuals are entitled to their opinion and act accordingly but we must respect those who do not wish to behave in the same way. We have made an encouraging start to our second Premier League experience and may we take this opportunity to call on all supporters to get behind the team and playing staff and give them our 100% support. This statement will be copied to all interested parties that include all officers and members of the HCOSC. media and branch representatives, independent groups, football club officials and others who have shown concern in this situation. HCOSC Board of Directors 3rd October 2013
It is indeed, there's also OSC members on Twitter complaining that they didn't know anything about a poll.
Crikey, the OSC comes over as a whiney, officious bunch in that statement. It's like they've got the hump the campaign has the audacity to meet Dr A. Their poll isn't going to help either, 50 out of 1561 members oppose it. Baffling. They're probably more a threat to the Protest than anything.
It was e-mailed to everyone who provided an e-mail address on their membership form but quite obviously it didn't get through to enough people. It was sent as part of a periodic newsletter that goes out and many people will have just deleted without opening and therefore not have even known about the poll within it. The online poll was much easier to find and participate in but the results have been partially ignored because it was apparently possible to vote multiple times. I hardly think anyone would be that bothered to do 100s of extra votes though. I don't think their stance is to oppose or support the protest. The OSC has a very separate agenda which is partly to represent its members as the statement says but also to give its members the best possible benefits package for being a member, so not appearing to challenge the club is important to them. I think this statement is just about having a position and making it clear.
Yep, i am a member of OSC and not herd or received a thing! But if you wanna stick my name to against the name change that's fine with me. ORRR, Maybe when i moved i left my e-mail address at the old house
This made me smile... James McVie ‏@YouLyingGet @NickQuantrill @jay__ell @origlambman @HCOSC_Official - They are football's equivalent of the Warmington on Sea Home Guard.
Nah, Jonesy and Pike had their uses. I called them tinpot and then the bloke who does the YesToHullTigers group had a whinge.
Just checked out @YesToHullTigers, he has 56 followers and half of them seem to be fan groups from other clubs. Very odd.
If there's one thing that should be pointed out to Allam, it's that glory should never come at the expense of one's pride and integrity*. *If you believe his moronic LIE that we will become the English Madrid if we change our name
I didn't mean anyone specifically, just that apart from on this board, I've not come across anyone with a negative attitude towards protesting strong enough to go and make a twitter account in the hope of winding people up.
Same as my experience too. I'd guess (as I rarely read them) that some of clochards who use the HDM comments could also be capable too
