UEFA's ranking is wickedy whack though! Look at Arsenals group. They are the top seed in that group but I dont fancy their chances at all
Don't agree with United. I think us and City will get out our groups easily. United and Arsenal will struggle. Arsenal have to beat Marseille home and away to go through IMO.
So, to complete the catalogue of fixtures: 18/09 - Basel (H) 21/09 - Fulham (H) 01/10 - Steau (A) 06/10 - Norwich (A) 22/10 - Schalke (A) 27/10 - Man City (H) 06/11 - Schalke (H) 09/11 - WBA (H) 26/11 - Basel (A) 01/12 - Southampton (H) 11/12 - Steau (H) 14/12 - Palace (H)
I expect Dortmund, Bayern, Barca, Real and PSG to win their groups. If we come 1st in our group, then we are looming very good to get to the QF stage. We've not kicked a ball yet so I won't get carried away but we have a great chance.
Given how Bayern absolutely battered Arsenal last year at the Emirates, Barca last year over 2 legs and City last night, doesn't it just make our 240 minutes against them without defeat even more brilliant?! Only English side who can go toe to toe with Europe's finest...fact.
I know a lot are hoping for 6pts v Schalke but I think 4 will still be a good result. That would put us ahead of them on head to head.
With the injuries they have we won't get a better chance to beat them. They are in great form though.
They are 5th in the Biundeslige and have lost 3 games already! Now we are starting to move I would be disappointed if we couldn't get all 3 points!
Teams through to the Last 16 round Bayern Munich Manchester City Real Madrid* PSG* Atletico Madrid Barcelona* * = All but through bar a ridiculous H2H swing.
The importance of winning the group is becoming clearer. I expect us to but coming 2nd would mean a very tough draw.
