Former QPR Defender Samba Wants England Return Posted On Wednesday, 2nd October 2013 Former QPR defender Chris Samba Christopher Samba wants to quit Dynamo Moscow and return to England. Izvestia says the DR Congo defender, who only moved to Dynamo in August from Anzhi, has asked his new Russian club not to block a return to the Premier League in January. West Bromwich Albion are being linked with the former QPR and Blackburn Rovers defender.
Certainly wouldn't want him next to you in the trenches. For me, he was a big investment which didn't work out .................... I don't think we need to revisit the past.
It depends We never saw the best of Samba and it couldn't have been easy coming into that septic environment. Hill and Dunne will not be options next year and we will need to replace the two with quality. Not for 12 million and not on 75grand a week but 5-6 million might represent good business.
After I finally stopped laughing, I can categorically state that I would never want him back at the club again. I will never forget that performance against Fulham
He could always move back to Russia next Summer if it doesn't work out? Sad that his magazine rack is better travelled than most people.
We all know the rumours from last year. Players disrespecting the manager, refusing to train because it was too cold and generally behaving like the over paid wasters that some of them were. If he was in any way a part of that group, then absolutely not under any circumstances, even on a free!
I think in Russia racist views are quite prevalent, especially in football - Last year, Zenit's supporters petitioned the club to demand a black person should never play for them - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20770678 I wouldn't want to live in that kind of environment, and wouldn't blame anyone for wanting out - though begs the question why he wanted to go in the first place... maybe he didn't have a choice. He really didn't perform for us - not sure if he was ever fit - and is undoubtedly a decent player, but given the current state of the team in terms of attitude, morale, etc. I wouldn't want any of the 'old faces' back at the risk of rocking our jolly boat.
Yup, Totally agree. Although Barton proves it is possible to go back, but wouldn't want to make a habit of it, rarely works.
I was delighted when we first signed him, but never again. He showed what a loser he is by going back to Russia.
I know about the racist, sexist and homophobic situation in Russia...BUT so did he, but he went back there in the summer....Why did he return...for his (2nd) cut of a 12million pound transfer I assume...... I hope (and truely believe), my principles would not have permitted me to return a second time....and then to bleat about the situartion. Sorry Chris, no sympathy on that front either... And no... you also sadly under performed for us when we needed you, a player of his reputation being out played every week by Clint Hill Disgraceful...(MBia and Remy both at least tried when he was with us....) Sadden on many fronts by Chris Samba
o All fair points. I still think there was something fishy about his transfer. I could be way off the mark here but it's my guess that he was only signed as a six month stopgap and a deal was always in place for him to go back after the six months were up. Samba is a good player, he hasn't become a bad player over night. Plenty of good Prem teams will snap up him at the right price.
No chance, now 30 so will be getting worse and will end up a slow lumbering lump within a couple of years. We saw how much worse he was when we had him last time.
