I completely agree with this, selecting Faurlin on the weekend was tactical and thankfully it paid dividends. He's not good enough to be the DCM.

Tom Carroll is going to get better and better and should play as often as possible. Karl Henry could be forgiven for thinking he's the unluckiest man in the world to get dropped, although there will be games where we need him this season.

Really happy with the options in our squad.

Or is this too much of an attacking line up ?

Think either Henry or Faurlin can do the defensive role - Ale probably offers more creativity and better distribution, but whether we need it with the other midfielders looking so strong is debatable. Maybe Carroll playing understudy to Niko for the moment as he finds his feet in this league.

    Nice!

    I'd probably go with:

    ---------------Green------------

    Simpson---Dunne---Hill-------BAE

    --------------Henry-------------

    Barton---O'Neill--Carroll----Kranky

    -------------Austin--------------

Could bring Hoillett/SWP in for last 30 mins to run against tired legs and move Kranky/Barton to middle, or Faurlin/Jenas in for Carroll(O'Neill)/Henry. Would be nice to see our new man Ernie given a run out too.

E: Forgot Phillips completely, is he match fit already?

With our squad, we should always put the emphasis on midfield imo.

I was assuming he's still out - if he's fit, then it's him or Hoilett depending on who Harry likes the look of from training this week.

Maybe not Beth....SWP is no Thomas Muller!!!!
Let´s keep it the same and maybe even give Chevanton a run-out - that is if we are in a comfortable position (no disrespect to the Tykes!)

After all it is just Barnsley, at home - with two strikers up front we should be able to open them up for a glut of goals?

We have a lovely new flat pitch and are aginst a team who will sit back and play for a draw
Keep those in the team that can play a 1st time pass

    Thats
    Simpson BAE
    O'Neill Barton Kranjcar Faurlin
    & Carroll

Dunne Hill and Green pick themselves
It's not time for Chevanton to start yet surely

So keep the same - give us 2 wingers if we are not 3 up after 60 minutes
Throw on the new striker after 65 so we can have a look and work out a song

henry and all wingers 2 x phillips and Hoillet do not pass 1st time so the whole flow of last week gets lost as soon as one of them comes on the pitch
I'm not saying this is the away team against Burnley but at home to Barnsley I reckon we can risk it.
Sir Alex would always field a home team to open teams up and an away team that had strentgh and wingers who could break quickly
I reckon Sir Harry should do the same

More of last week please. It was a joy to watch - just get the right goal scorer up front - whoever he is - bit worried about Austin's first touch - he never looks like he is going to kill it , knock it past his man and do something - I may yet be wrong - oh for Remy

Hopefully Chevanton will get some game time this week, maybe for Austin once the game is won.

4141 is too defensive at home. 4231 or 442.

Drop Carroll, play Faurlin and Barton on CM and play Hoilett on the wing, Kranjcar plays off Austin or keep Kranjcar on the left put in chevanton for Carroll.

Bang on the money, Flyer. I'd like to see some boldness and start Chevanton and Austin up front together, with Carroll making way. If it works, then one of the forwards can make way for either Faurlin or Carroll to 'shut up shop'. If it doesn't, then the same switch in formation is available to try something else. From what I've seen of Chevanton on YouTube he can get on the end of Austin knock-downs or Jimmy Krankie's through-balls.
