Harry insists Faurlin has a QPR future

    By Paul Warburton
    Sep 29 2013

ALE Faurlin is a man with a QPR future – according to his boss.

There was a time at the end of last season when Harry Redknapp hinted the Argentinian midfielder had outgrown his four-year stay, but having given him his first league start on Saturday since the opening day, there is no chance Faurlin (pic) will now be allowed out on loan.

The 27-year-old was angling to find out where he stood in the summer, but Redknapp made it plain he believes Faurlin will stick around.

The manager said: “He was unlucky not to be in the team for me – and I still very much like him.”

For all that, the Argentine was dispatched to Palermo last January, but got no luckier in Serie A as his loan club sacked coaches halfway through the season.

“Ale wasn’t playing well and he wanted to get some games, and went to Palermo and didn’t get what he wanted,” said Redknapp.

“But he’s in my squad and if he gets games I know he’ll do well in the Championship.”

Played well on Saturday, an important member of the QPR side that put in its best performance of the season so far

Hopefully having Barton and Kranjcar in midfield will give Ale a bit more stability and confidence to push on.

Carries on playing like Saturday and he may get his new contract, a Barton, kranjcar, Faulin midfield looked the buisnes against a robust Middlesbro

He was unlucky not to be in the team says the man who picked the team?

I could accept not quite good enough or not what we needed but not flimsy "luck" from the boss, the man that should take luck out of the equation by picking the right and best team for each game.

I'm glad Ale played well - he is one of my favourites of the last few years.

"...I know he'll do well in the Championship."

There it is in a nutshell - not a PL player, so would probably be moved on if the Rs are promoted.

    How did it get on?

Its entirely up to him whether he has a future here or not. If he plays well he will. If he doesn't he won't.

We can't keep sentimentally liking players because they had a good season three years ago. Its childish and unproductive

I think his performance on Saturday was ok, nothing spectacular, so I'm a lone voice on here. I thought he looked nervous at times and played safety first. He didn't look composed on the ball either.

That said enough posters on here have praised him highly so perhaps I missed something obvious. Either that or it's the pollyanna principle that another poster alluded to so time ago.

In summary; the jury's still out for me on young Ale.

You have. He had a good season three years ago so you should perpetually rate him.

I wouldn't like to be in your Courtroom. You've had four years already, how much longer do you need?

Thers s at least 15 other players that would need to be moved before him. He's good enough for fourth or fifth choice CM.
He should get one more contract for continuity, he's 27 now so that would take him to 29- 30.

I completely agree. Faurlin had an average game, which is better than his recent poor performances. Hopefully he builds on the improvement and refinds his old form

It shows, yet again, how we all see the same game so differently!
Myself and the lad and people all around us were all purring over Faurlin's performance last Saturday. I thought he was VERY composed on the ball and retained possession very well. He also won a good few headers and would probably have scored if he hadn't been brought down when through on goal.

    Opinions eh?

I can keep sentimentally liking players because they had a good season three years ago...I think you meant to say that we shouldn't be playing players cause they had a good season three years ago....obviously true...otherwise I would have Stan and Rodnee upfront waiting for Dave Thomas to cross the ball.....But Ale had a bad injury, met a manager who didn't like him, got sent on loan....to a club in a spiral decline....now after a settled summer, he is regain form and confidence
