They had a lot of chances against you. I wasn't criticising Chelsea though, just making that point that with a World Class 'keeper putting in a good performance then they don't concede that poor goal early on and City can tighten up as the game goes on. Bayern dominated the play in both games, the difference was that Cech was there when you needed him and Bayern were a bit more clinical too today.
We had so many chances to kill the game of, namely the Oscar chance. Most of their chances were just shots from outside the box because they couldn't break us down. City tried to go toe to toe against Bayern which was never going to work.
Top teams don't lose 3 games in a row. City may have just been thumped by Bayern but they are still a top team, by our league's standards.
NOTSO's CL ROUND-UP Well, after last nights turgid affairs we were served up some quality moments of football, Bayern aside who provided 90mins!, scary, they were a good side anyway, but now, kin ell! However, massive question mark on Pellegrini for continuing with 2 strikers allowing all that room in MF for 70 odd minutes, his reason after was just unintelligible bollox. Negredo's goal was also too good to be a consolation, thats a lovely goal to pull off if you're a striker, cruyff turn shifting the ball onto the other foot and curl your shot in off the post, no keeper's saving one of those. Souness out-punditted Jamie Redknapp analysing Mueller's goal, and I thought the pundit in the middlle was a cheshire cat for about an hour, then realised it was city reject Gareth Barry. If Bale thought his week couldn't get any worse with Marca turning on him already, it does, enter Di Maria, a stunning behind the leg scissor kick cross for an assist, followed by a stunning finish himself...and another!. If that wasn't bad enough, Di Maria celebrated his goal with a heart shape...oh dear! or (as applicable) AND latest news he's out for 3 weeks!....Woodgate II?.. PSG comfortable winners, watch for a stunning goal involving 2 ridiculous backheels in the build-up. Olympiakos forward Mitroglou with a hat-trick, and what a goal for his 3rd, a drag shifting the ball to get a shot off with the other foot into the top corner, unstoppable. Juve v Galatasary was a good game Drogba bustling his way to a goal and an assist to frustrate the Italians. A free kick by a Leverkusen player, had Matt Le Tissier technique all over it. The highlight programme is worth a watch if you get the chance.
Definitely be downloading the highlight show (along with ultimate fighter).........that should keep me entertained at work!
We didn't, but Bayern (and Dortmund) are streets above anything the Premier League has to offer. Only Barca and Madrid can realistically go toe-to-toe with them in the KO rounds.
Just a note about a Spurs old boy now with Locomotive Moscow. Pav no less. I read that he spent most of last season on the bench and has "retired" from the Russian national team. What a Jekell and Hyde this fellow was.As brilliant as many players on his day but as bad as many on his off days. I'll always remember his great goals for us....and he did score some beauties! Good luck,Pav.
I forgot to put a fine source of humour in my CL Round-up. During the City Bayern game, the Bayern fans in the 2nd half did the Posznan. The commentator then suggested facing the other way may have been the best way for City fans to watch the whole match!
in the Super Cup you were very good but in the CL final they outplayed you and should have been out of sight before you scored
Watching Swansea now and am really enjoying what they are doing. The ref is hopeless and feel for the Swans. The penalty for hand ball should never been given with justice being served with the penalty takers brain and legs going to mush at the point of contact with the ball. The sight of Michu having a lump taken out of his head by a St Gallen boot was sickening and the ref saw nothing!! 8 and a half minutes on the sideline to staunch the flow of blood and patching up was greeted with a yellow. Michu's blood is still flowing but still putting in 100%.If they get through this I think they should add a small red strip to the back neck of the strip to represent the blood spilt in the pursuit of victory.
We created by the far better chances. Nobody is denying Bayern were the better side and deserved the win, but people should remember that. If Oscar tucks away that sitter at 1-1 it's game over more or less. Bayern might be invincible, but they're not invulnerable.
Just watched the highlights and aside from the obvious talking points, the interviewer after the game asks Pellegrini, ''why didn't you change the tactics and system in the match''.........what a ****ing cheek! they wouldn't dare have asked Fergie that question and you could see Pellegrini was thinking who are you to ask me that question.
Listening to his answer anyway, in amongst the mumbling and blank looks, he said he didn't think changing the system to match them would have worked??? i'e' put an extra man in MF, yeah right, 3v3 in MF...hopeless idea, much better to hope 2 can match the work of 3! He couldn't justlfy 442. I maintain he's not a good appointment. I think he's wrote the 2 Bayern games off aiming to qualify 2nd myself.
