Epic ties, coats and sideburns. Stan appears to have borrowed a ladies holdall for the trip. As near to centre stage as John Delve ever got.

    Nice one Aussie.

With tackling pretty much banned these days, Tony Hazell would never stay on the pitch. Top Rangers man was Tony, one of the unsung heroes. He was one of my Dad's
favourite players and he started watching the R' s in the !920's.

2 guys that I don't recognise. Guy with blond hair in the middle front and guy over Venables' left shoulder. Who are they?

I think 'Blondie' might be a young John Beck, the other is Tony Hazell

Kerry....see stans & wandles posts above......Tony Hazell is also on AAAAGH's avatar....

That was the start of our greatest side, the basis of it was put in place by Gordon Jago and Dave Sexton put the finishing touches to it......great memories

John Delve (blondie) was a perennial number 12 for the R's in this period, didn't get many games and I think he moved onto Plymouth. Those days of 1 subs (or zero subs a few years before) really meant that there was nowhere to hide for the team and manager. And it was just 1 named sub, not pick one from a bench of 6 or 8 or whatever it is now.

The real question is who is behind Phil Parkes, who is peering over Gordon Jago's shoulder but is obscured by someone's hand and the top of whose head is between Tel and Tony?

Great picture by the way, thanks.

Yes it is Beth.....what a player he was, such a tragic end....

I would have a guess at possibly Ian Gillard as there looks like a mop of curly hair in there....certainly not Terry Mancini unless he had his wig on!!!!!

Dave Webb joined in the summer of 1974, I agree it looks like him, but it can't be.

Some clues to the hidden players might be garnered from this clip of the home game from that season.
