Has anyone else read the Daily Mail article? I'm a bit rubbish with technology so can't put up the link but it suggests that the two had an argument due to Jones mouthing off about how he hated it under Pulis and was held back. Ryan thinks he should have said it to Pulis face rather than in the media. I wonder if this was the reason for the sorry excuse for a game on Sunday? Stoke owner Peter Coates has stepped in to heal a dressing-room rift by ordering Stoke's players to end public criticism of former manager Tony Pulis. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...row-Tony-Pulis-causes-dressing-room-rift.html
Haven't read it mate but as a captain he is probably trying to retain some professionalism within squad. Its never nice to see a player slag of a manager (or the other way round) and I would imagine that Shawx will defend Pulis on the basis that he was one of the very few players to flourish under TP's management. Either way, I dont blame Jones and I respect Shawx for his views.
Thanks for putting the link up. I think that slagging someone off after they have left is a bit classless and can only be devisive for a team. Hope its all sorted now though.
Remember that Jones did not play to often, once pulis signed crouch! I would have done the same thing personally. Same with Pennant, whom Pulis would not play.
Not surprised in the least that some players have come out and had a go at Pullis. It's what a lot of footballers do if there opportunities are limited under a manager. In fact it's what some do when a manager leaves full stop and a new manager comes in. They want to ingratiate themselves with the new boss and criticising the last one is there limited way of doing this. Working hard, playing well and proving you are a good footballer and deserve to be in the team is a better way. All in all Jones and Pennant should shut up and get on with it. Moaning about Pullis when their performances are at the level they are is pathetic and good on Shawcross and also Coates for making that clear. Does it explain Sunday's performance. Who knows but it will not have helped in the least.
Northern I think it could well have had a bearing on the performance on Saturday. Hoping it is sorted as we need something from Fulham on Saturday!
Good post Northern. Pulis is in the past and no matter what the players thought of his tactics, style of management etc. there is absolutely no point in any one of them bleating to the media any dissatisfaction they may have had at the time. They are professionals on large weekly salaries and should be focussing on earning their places under the current regime.
Fully agree, they should let their football do the talking, show us why Pulis wasn't justified in leaving them out with good performances, goals and the team playing as a team and winning. That would speak volumes to everyonel.
