I found myself sat next to Glen Matlock on Saturday. He was very pleasant and not a bit like those other nasty Pistols. Anyone else ever found themselves sat with a celeb?
I sat behind Marlon Brando on a flight from Madrid to London, must be 15 years ago or more. Couldn't sit next to him because he was very large and took up two seats. When hassled for an autograph by a woman he was actually very gracious, to my surprise.
I sat next to Phil Lynott (Thin Lizzy) on a flight from London to Dublin one Christmas eve. It was shortly before he died. A very down to earth bloke he was.
Got upgraded to 1st class flying from LA to New York about 15 years ago and the passenger next to us was Robert Redford.
Funny, it was only yesterday at Bill Clinton's party that I was only telling Paul McCartney how much I hated namedroppers...
Sat next to Pierce Brosnan on an Aer Lingus flight from LHR to Dublin. Only 6 of us in business class (work paid for it!!) but an awful lot of cabin staff seemed to be milling around the front of the plane and whispering the whole flight. He didn't want the draft Guinness and they did not have Guinness stout and he refused the meal which was then landed on my tray. Kept himself to himself so I literally only acknowledged him with a good morning. My boss and I were taken by MasterCard to a Champions League game at Scumford Bridge , we got royally pissed pre-match on Amstel in Corp hospitality and then got to our seats and found that I was sat next to Sven and directly behind me were Colin Mountgomery and Jim Rosenthal (who was doing the pre-match compere). Me and my boss both asked Jim for his autograph in the corp area after the game (more Amstel) and he looked at us and said with a smile "Are you taking the piss?" and we replied "Yes, of course Jim, but sign it anyway you legend!"
Sat beside Ken Doherty on a flight from Dublin to Faro. After much posturing he finally plucked up the courage to ask me for my autograph. Of course I obliged but I later found out that the Bol•ox sold it on eBay.
I've stood next to Stan, Hoops Eternal, Ciarrai Abu, Woody, almost next to Nines, behind Stainsey, in amongsts loads of Not606ers on September 14th, and, of course, sat next to BrixtonR
And I was sitting next to Mrs Brix on my right and some geezer from Norway on my left, totally starstruck!...
I sat next to the Labour politician Alan Johnson when we played Bolton in our first game back in the Prem..........life-long fan apparently. "Wake up call" he muttered as he shuffled away with 10 mins remaining. I've also sung on stage with George McCrae (70s souls singer) singing "rock your baby". I didn't want to give him the mic back, but he insisted!!
Also.......I have sat between Finglas and Tramore....and drunk with the legends who are the Irish Rs....and wish to do so again soon, when my head and liver recovers
The Portuguese algarve seems a good place to meet celebs, found myself sitting next to alan shearer and dean windass on seperate occasions in the same bar in Val de Lobo
I can't beat Jim rosenthal, but sat in the BA VIP lounge opposite James brown, the godfather of soul, not the ex-loaded editor. And a gentlemen he was too
Is this the very same Amanda Donohoe who starred in Castaway with Oliver Reid and in a Liar Liar as 'I've had better' Miranda who seduces the Jim Carey character?
When i flew Concorde to New York a good few years ago (had to get that in ), i sat behind George Michael. Seemed a nice enough chap as was his fella.
