@SkySportsPeteO: Derby are poised to sign Manchester United duo Michael Keane and Larnell Cole on loan. #MUFC #DCFC
Nigel Clough sacked by Derby Very surprising as Derby was looking like heading in the right direction after a very long time. They now have a very good young squad
That is surprising. Derby have been much worse under Clough than they are now. That said, five years he's been there and they've been consistently average all that time. I just find the timing odd. I know they've lost to both their rivals in one week, but Leicester and Forest do look like they're going to be top six sides this year. Obviously the expectation at Derby this year was to match that - not sure how realistic that was ever going to be though considering the quality of the playing staff at Derby.
Clough decision is madness - he's had next to nothing to spend during his tenure and yet has consolidated them in the division and indeed made them competitive - they have lost their last two games away at two of the divisions 'big spending' contenders by a single goal and were perhaps a shade unlucky not to have got a draw at one of those clubs. What's a new man going to change unless they bankroll him? - which, if they do, begs the question why they never did the same for Clough?
Derby have a very good young squad IMO Will Hughes, Jeff Hendrick, Paul Coutts, Johnny Russell, Kieron Freeman, Craig Bryson and Jamie Ward are all decent players. The new manager will struggle to do better on the same budget.
THAT would be hilarious!! http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24326959 Forests failure of an ex-manager ... good going Derby
Couldn't agree more. McClaren got 8 points from 10 games at the trees.. Wonder where Cloughie will end up now though? Bolton, when "I will not walk away" Freedman walks away?
McLaren at Forest did what Sven did - sign players living on past reputations. Signings like Derbyshire, Greening and Miller cost McLaren his job. I hope he's learnt his lesson, but expectations will be lower at Derby than they were at Forest sohe should make fewer pressure signings.
