Burnsy just tweeted Just had a chat with Assem Allam, he says he's going to invite 5-10 fans from #hcafc name change protest group for a chat. Good idea.
Hopefully constructive diplomatic talks recognising the groundswell of opinion against the name change, good news.
Maybe it should be 1 for, 1 against and 1 indifferent? Seriously though, it's a step in the right direction. Hopefully, he'll see the alternative view and perhaps consider some sort of compromise that suits all!
The date for the meeting hasn't yet been set. It's a meeting between Assem and three of the campaign group, so will obviously only include those who are against the name change. The group will decide who is best qualified to attend, but it won't be an issue, there's some very clued up people involved.
Robo - it's a meeting with representatives from the protest group. It won't be any of the not bothered brigade because they obviously aren't part of tue protest group and are too busy on here telling the world how not bothered they are. I'm sure Allam would also welcome those in favour of the change or not bothered about it to go and chat with him too but since no one has started that campaign group yet it can't happen. In the meantime those who care will make their case assuming he sticks to his word.
Long as Obi is one, and like TWF says, not the Chinese Takeaway fella, this should be interesting to read up on afterwards. Choose your companions well Obi. Fingers crossed Dr A won't be painted as a pantomime villain afterwards too.
Well there is the "fans consultation bit" then .. those postcards will now be null and void when they are sent out In all seriousness its good news , Ive been very impressed with the work done by the group so far especially obi for setting the ball rolling so well on this whole thing. As most of you know I'm in the "don't really care" park but I do wish the guys all the luck as they have worked very hard and very tirelessly on this .. well done !
I have posted this in previous threads. "The way forward is to stop acting like football supporters. In order to be listened to you have to have something to offer Assem Allams words are that he is the business man and we are simply fans who know nothing about business. We have to produce real tangible evidence that the name change will be a costly and fruitless excercise. Just on this forum there are posters who have experience in marketing, law and finance. " It is vital that we produce more than just hearsay and speculation. We need a comprehensive report with independent research to show that Assam Allam has been mis-informed. I will state here and now that the meeting will not be anything like what is expected. There will be a demonstration of the benefits of name change. It will not be accepted that there should not be a name change. The challenge will be----- You lot come up with 1/an alternative name that has the same clout. 2/ a way of financing the club without a name change. I also expect a statement along these lines.........unless the name is changed, I will withdraw financial support over the next three seasons. I will recover the money that I have loaned the club and I will not put a penny more in. The commercial element will not fund the football. After three season if you the fans want to buy the club I will sell you shares.
Partly true I suspect. Meeting him and telling him its a bad idea because this old lady came up for a badge will be a bad idea. He'll want some suggestions on how to actually sustain the club going forwards, solutions not problems etc. I hope the guys going have something business like and sensible.
He is just an old softie at heart. Maybe Nick Thompson is finally getting his message through at last. Lol.
