Apart from his freekick deliveries, corners, crosses from open play, penalties and robust defensive duties I don't think we'll miss him....

Irish international will undergo surgery today and be sidelined for around four weeks....

Robbie Brady will undergo surgery on a hernia problem on Tuesday afternoon which will see the Republic of Ireland international sidelined for around four weeks.

Brady has been playing through the problem for a number of weeks and it had initially been hoped that he would be able to play against Aston Villa this coming Saturday before having an operation during the following international break.

However, with the discomfort growing with each game, Brady has decided to go ahead with surgery at the earliest opportunity.

“It’s actually a condition that we’ve been managing for around six weeks now,” revealed Rob Price, Hull City’s Head of Medical Services.

“Robbie has managed to play through that and been particularly successful despite being in a reasonable amount of pain.

“The manager has been very good in terms of limiting Robbie’s training sessions and has brought him off at times in games when he was still able to perform.

“We had a sit down between Robbie, the manager and myself to make a decision on when it would be best to have the surgery and Robbie decided that he couldn’t really continue to play with the pain he was having.

“We met with the surgeon on Monday night and Robbie will go for surgery this afternoon. We’re hopeful that he will be back playing sometime within around four weeks.”

The technical term for Brady’s complaint is a bilateral hernia, a problem not uncommon amongst footballers.

“It is a pretty common problem in footballers and there are a lot of players who have had this surgery done,” added Price.

“It usually gives good, quick results.”

Surgery means Brady will miss the Tigers’ home game against Aston Villa as well as Ireland’s World Cup Qualifiers against Germany and Kazakhstan.

“Robbie’s obviously disappointed to be missing games, both for us and at international level,” said Price.

“But, we only look at surgery when it suits the condition of the player rather than looking at which games are coming up.”

Article says 4 weeks until he can play. Does play mean play or does play mean train?

Hmm, any chance that he could make his return in the League Cup against Spurs then?

Possibly, I'm sure they'll want him back as soon as possible, but it's all down to how well the surgery goes.

Just thinking League Cup could actually be a legitimate way for him to get back up to peak fitness, and at the same time strengthen our chances of winning the match.

If he's ready, he might get 45 minutes to get him up to speed ahead of Sunderland.

So who comes in? Nobody has touched on this so far. What's the deal with Quinn? If he's fit then it's not a bad swap is it? Back on his preferred side.

I think Bruce played Sagbo wide-left v Huddersfield with an eye on Brady's injury....

Nah, I wouldnt shift Aluko. He's just getting into it again after a long stint out and finding his feet. He needs a long run in the same slot.

I'd much rather just swap 1 for 1 instead of shifting it arund, assuming Quinn is ok (I know he's in the EIRE squad).

It will be Quinn. Brucey woulda used him against WHam but 5ft5' n 9 stone isnt very helpful against a fat Sam team.
