According to our manager, Lukaku wasn't better than the options we already had. Un-fckin-believable.

Shows how much he knows about football, but don't tell Hacky Sack that.

Does that explain why the defenders weren't bothered about him? Did Pardew tell his defenders the same thing, so Colo and MYM looked at Shola and thought "this'll be a piece of pi$$".

Fcking shambles at the moment. Pardew hasn't a fcking clue. He couldn't nullify Barkley by (allegedly) playing 2 DM's. He exposes his full backs because neither has cover. He doesn't know how to play this tactic of ours. He gets one decent result - Villa - and thinks he's God. You can't just keep doing it. He has his forwards set up to get crosses from the wings, but has no wing play because the left and right forwards are forever cutting in. He just picks players and expects it to work, he reminds me of a kid playing FM2013: "Hmm. I'll put these here, these guys there....counter attack? Yeah, I'll tick that box. Play down both wings, I think. Let's have Tiote as a BWM. Anita? Hmm. Deep Lying Playmaker - perfect. Click "play match" and let's see what happens....crap, we got beat again."

I don't know what's worse... him saying it in the first place or the chance that he may actually believe it.

He did mate. He said in an interview that he had to be certain that whoever he brought it was better than he had already and would improve the group... and that having looked around there were no options that fitted the bill.
Even fecking Stevie Wonder could see better quality out there FFS.

Ah thats a whole lot different. I was gonna say. I'm sure he'd have liked Lukaku or Ba, the problem being they weren't an option for us. It is tenuous at best to blame Pards for that.

If Lukaku, who went on loan to a club of similar size and stature, isn't an option, then who the fck is? We couldn't afford the £2m for Arnautovic, yet were busy "bidding" £8m for Gomis? Nah, none of it stacks up and I'm sick to the fckin eye teeth of having to weave and dodge through the sea of sh!t that is Newcastle United.

Actually, I suppose in the interests of fairness it could be easily argued that Lukaku is categorically not for sale. So as a result, Mike has no interest in loaning without an option to buy. I'll give Pardew that much. Assuming, of course, that there IS such a clause in the Remy loan.....and it's a fcking big, over-trusting assumption.

Similar size and stature? Not in a long while for me. Everton have a recent history of consistent performance. We have the opposite. Our last consistency was under Robson. Lukaku was never a realistic option for us on loads of levels.

    1. We wouldn't foot his wages
    2. Everton were in for him
    3. Why would Chelsea want him to come here, we're a shambles
    4. Why would he want to come here, we're a shambles

I may not like Pards trawling out the party line about signings, but the reality is our transfer fate was clearly sealed the minute JK was appointed to oversee it. If anyone seriously believed this regime and club had any serious intentions after that, then they quite frankly need to keep off the crack. We joked about from that point forward, we fecking knew Remy was end of business and Pardew would be rolled out with an lame excuse prepared for him. So maybe its a bit weak on his part, but holding him responsible? Not on your nelly for me, he is just a pawn.

I don't fully disagree, but actually I think what went against us was that Lukaku wasn't actually available and certainly not for less than £10m. True, that's being generous, and your points are salient so I retract my accusation.

I'm a bit down in the dumps today. Everything to do with the club is rotten today. I'm alwas like this when I've had to watch players not actually trying, it just pisses me off. I'll be alright by the weekend and bang up for the next game. <laugh> Just like Mike plans for.

What I don't get about your performance in the first half yesterday, was that Pardew said before the game that he reckoned your pace would worry us & that you'd be at your most dangerous when we had the ball. Intimating that he was going to set you up to draw us onto you & aim to hit us on the break, which made sense tbf & was my worry anyway.

However, from the first whistle you pushed up, leaving massive gaps in the full back areas & the plenty of grass in behind the 2 CB's, which was the total opposite of what he said you were going to look to do. All 3 of our goals came from us turning your backline.

If you'd have 'parked the bus' early on, & looked to exploit our high defensive line with your pace, then it could have been a different game.

Imagine that - Pardew getting it wrong. Never thought I'd see the day.

Welcome to the 'Concedes 3 every game club' in its inaugral year. We're a friendly bunch and gallows humour is very much the name of the game.
