I have never criticised any of our managers apart from blackie and Adamson but I do feel that bringing recruits for a 3 month loan period defeats the object, as after 3 months the go back to their parent club, so what incentive have they got to work hard for the cause . With this 93 day loan period upon us we should be bringing in loanees with a view to buying them in Jannuary . The incentive to the player will be a contract for at least 2 years provided he impresses us sufficiently to earn that contract .This is the way forward in my opinion not taking in loanees for 3 months holiday What do you think?
60, I think the logic behind it is that: a. It puts loanees in the window for possible permanent moves somewhere b. It gives us a chance to see how a loanee fits into the team and whether or not its worth extending the loan with a view to buy. I think it all depends on what the Manager does with the loanee. Barry Bannan was a classic example. How the phuk could Colin bring him in and then not play him? What a prat, Colin that is, not Bannan.
I really don't think this comes into the footballer's mind. Players don't think I will play well this game to try and get a better deal and then next game I won't put any effort in. imo players don't need extra motivation in the form of potential deals and money. If they do then they are ridiculously unprofessional and any potential club watching them will be put off regardless. Or maybe thats just how I used to play and expect the same from every level of football.
It was Grayson that brought Bannan in and didn't play him Barkley was Warnocks **** up. Why he didn't play him I will never know class act that kid
Hope your well Leeds60 Isnt that what McDermott said he wanted to do? Sign players on loan with a view to a perm deal? Worked for us with Gradel! Trouble is in an ideal world we would have (best case scenerio first) brought these players in pre-season on a perm. brought these players in on a season long loan with a view to sign bring these players in for the 93 day window (or whatever it is) with a view to sign But we will probably have to make deal with a standard emergency loan! I dont blame MCdermott for this, the blame must lay with GFH as I am sure as hell he would have pushed for the first few scenerios above! That being said, we will never know if he intially targeted a winger, and if he didnt and spent a million on ANOTHER CM that would be criminal. I cant help but think McDermott has had the wool pulled over his eyes in terms of transfers though One thing that cant be denied is we lack fire power and McDermott brought in two strikers. If Bates sacked Grayson for coming back cap in hand and asking for yet another CB as all his CB's werent up to the task. We are one dimensional when we play the diamond therefore predictible and we have no plan B without wingers, maybe a couple of wingers will bring the goals out who knows. I just feel McDermott is going to need time to sort this mess out or some investment into the squad!
Although I do not believe a professional player will try any less, there is such a thin line between success and failure, that even if a player pulls out of a few challenges, or doesn't make that last ditch challenge, that can make such a big difference a result of a game...
We certainly should be but the question is what do we use to buy them with in January. This argument is based on McD having a budget yet again. The Becchio saga seems to have failed as Norwich wanted 1.8m in January after a loan period. That is likely the main reason he is not togging out for Leeds tonight in my opinion
I agree but I think in that moment they are not thinking about earning more money, it could be others things. We see players do it but I just can't bring myself to believe that it is money-based, in fact I doubt it crosses their mind at all while on the pitch
Thanks Bucks for your good wishes I go in tomorrow for some extensive treatment I am looking forward to it because as they say every little helps get me better
Good luck pal, you certainly have the right attitude and your very brave, the Don and Billy would have you as one of there own thats for sure
you could tell when he played for us he was something else we don't see many of them anymore but if Livermore can play in europe Barkley can win a trophy in Europe
Not exactly Tommy. To ask why we bring in loan players is a reasonable question. There are reasonable answers to this, aminly around looking at players or temporarily boosting your squad. The emergency loan market isn't ideal, but it does give teams options. A reasonable question and definitely not a Clive-inspired WUM attempt
