Normally I'd be with you on that but you can hardly suggest he's biased in favour of Spurs based on previous form....
There's some hilarious views on this thread. Putting aside the obvious stuff which has pretty much been covered. Townsend's dive wasn't really reported but neither was his apology afterwards. It was lost in all the other stories. Mourinho mouthed off about Vertonghen being a cheat, the AVB vs Mourinho angle was always going to continue after the match, Torres avoided a straight red and I believe there was some football played at somepoint too. Plus United and City lost whilst Arsenal went clear at the top so it's hardly like the football pages were lacking stories. Believe what you want though
I think you'll find that the referee is well within his remit to administer a yellow card for an offence that he considers to be unsporting behaviour http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Misconduct_(association_football) Vertonghen's shove on Torres after the whistle had gone and the ball was dead, could very easily have been punished with a yellow card. When he was eventually booked for scything down Torres, he could have seen red. Unsporting behaviour also incorporates feigning injury - and again Vertonghen was guilty. Ultimately Vertonghen was lucky that he finished the game still on the pitch.
Torres was a twat (for the scratch)... Townsend was a twat (for diving)... Vert was a twat (for holding his head)...Kose was a twat for claiming vert dived when he was tripped in the first incident. The ref was not helped by players being twats...but should not have guessed. Banning Torres for a further 3 matches is over the top in my opinion ... at the end of the day no one was hurt. I can not believe that this is such a big issue to be honest...I get the injustice bit about the ref guessing and getting it wrong but too much is being made of both Vert and torres in my opinion
IF the ref had seen the scratch Torres would not have been on the pitch to have been fouled by Vertongen...so Ultimately he would not have been booked a second time...I have no idea why such a big deal is being made of this...(the whole torres vertongen thing)
Better sums up the bias Graham Poll still shows to Jose and Chelsea. And this is the clown who can't count to 3 !!!!!! He made a total ****wit of himself in the World Cup by issuing 3 yellow cards.......... to the same player.Hardly in a position to comment on other refs performances. Or was that Howard Webb ?? No matter, they're both ****wits, and Mike Dean is close to it as well.
They key thing Drogs, as you rightly said, neither did anything wrong in the challenge. Verts did afterwards with his acting. Verts reactions to the challenge , (using the word challenge very loosely) was very poor to say the least. To be honest though, it's the first time I've seen this from him and hopefully the last as well. Townsend diving was a disgrace although he has come out and admitted it then apologised, still wrong. Torres should never of got a red card for that. The scratching is different to be fair. Till the red card was shown, torres was looking dangerous and likely to score. If the FA are going to be fair,at worst Torres should get 3 match ban not 4. Mike Dean had a shocking game, in all honesty he was ****e towards both teams. Worst ref performance I've seen for a while! Unfortunately 'cheating' is part of our game now, every club has divers or those that feign injury. We can't blame just the foreign players either with young, Townsend, Lennon, Wiltshire, Rooney amongst others all guilty of diving either now or in the past. Every club has cheats and until the FA start taking action then it will get worse.
Obviously what Vertonghen did was wrong. But if this keeper does this when he eventually comes back to you, do you think Mourinho would still call him a disgrace?
He should have been yellowed three times. He got frustrated because Chelsea were getting the better of him.
Are you expecting us to applaud or something? Of course it's terrible, but it has absolutely nothing to do with what we're currently discussing.
Just looked on their rival thread, mind boggling. what planet must some of them be on to think it wasn't a 50/50?
Probably the type that blame conspiracies and lack of penalties for them not getting top four. Anybody with a pair of working eyes could see it was a complete 50/50 challenge.
Any set of fans that had a player like Drogba in their team should really keep shtum about players diving and simulating. Fact is every team has divers, we all turn a blind eye when it's one of ours and scream blue murder when it's one of theirs, no governing body is going to do anything about it as they're too scared. All it would take is a simpe rule, if your player is caught diving/simulating injury you must start your next 3 games without that player, and I don't mean he gets replaced, I mean you start with 10 players, and the simulator gets a 10 match ban, it would stop it in a week.
